GPH is hiring for a GPH Vaccine Global Strategy and Planning Lead. This role can be located at one of our J&J sites in North America (East Coast), EMEA, or Africa.

Position Summary:
The GPH Vaccine Global Strategy and Planning Lead will be responsible for driving the strategic priorities and planning of the GPH Vaccine organization. This will including ensuring GPH vaccines organization is fully integrated into the broader J&J enterprise and is an integral part of critical enterprise vaccine discussions and decisions (BP, LRFP, VCC, plus ad hoc). This leader will also organize and lead key senior leadership meetings including, the GPH Vaccines Leadership Team meetings, GPH Vaccines Governance Board, Senior Leadership Team updates, as well as leading weekly business performance updates. From an operational standpoint, this person will be responsible for leading the GPH Vaccines Program Management Office, and working with GPH vaccines leadership on allocation, delivery and distribution of vaccines in GPH markets across resource limited settings. This includes leading critical planning and executional activities ensuring clear understanding of vaccine supply and demand, trends impacting performance, management/execution of Advanced Purchasing Agreements (APAs), Long-term Arrangements (LTAs), and ultimately proactively inform key decisions for the GPH Vaccine business unit. Initial responsibilities for this Office will be focused on COVID-19 and Ebola vaccine implementation at the beginning, and further expand into future vaccines in the pipeline as appropriate.

This role will lead a team of individuals focused on allocation, delivery, and distribution of vaccines in GPH markets, including leading a team of individuals focused on scenario planning and forecasting; analytics on the African continent; procurement support focused on tenders, new APAs and LTAs; and coordination with the J&J Vaccine Coordination Center (VCC) and Contact Center. This role will work incredibly closely across the GPH Vaccines cross-functional matrix, including team members from Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Government Affairs and Policy.

This role is also responsible for partnering with the GPH VP Vaccines to drive the GPH Vaccines strategy, including integrating input from GPH functions to track metrics, finances, strategic objectives & outcomes; driving to more efficient and effective portfolio prioritization and decision-making; ensuring cross- portfolio level information flows back into the GPH Vaccines LT and GPH Senior Leadership Team to promote broader thinking and decision making; and ensuring regional and functional alignment across the teams that interact with the GPH Vaccines team, from GCSO to EMEA and Emerging Markets, AsiaPac to LATAM, R&D to Access Strategy and Impact to Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, Regulatory, Health Care Compliance, Supply Chain, Finance, Communications, and HR.

The Lead will report directly into the VP, Global Public Health Vaccines and be a member of the GPH Vaccines Leadership team.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Formulate strategy for GPH Vaccines allocation, planning and forecasting, and vaccine distribution, including leveraging insight and analysis to help senior leadership plan and prioritize for each phase of vaccine implementation and direction. This leader will be leading the overall coordination, implementation, execution, control, and measurement of the GPH Vaccines implementation. This role will partner with key stakeholders, including highest levels of the GPH leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Working with the VP GPH Vaccines, this leader will be responsible for developing timelines, project plans, monitoring progress against those plans, and running weekly dashboard reviews outlining critical leading and lagging indicators to the health of the GPH Vaccines business. Specifically, this person will lead a team of project managers, analysts, and forecasters to ensure coordination of short and long-term GPH Vaccines activities, including overall program status, resource load, and financial health of the project are appropriately managed and governed.
  • The role will develop program risk assessments, develop contingency plans, and recommend mitigations, as needed.
  • The role will provide input to overall program strategic delivery framework and drive updates on continuously improving the standards and methodologies.
  • The role will anticipate potential risks / program obstacles through an understanding of key business processes in vaccines, and the analysis of key program data.
  • This leader will partner with GPH Vaccines leaders across the GPH vaccines "region" to define key program metrics for each phase of the project and manage ongoing analysis and reporting.
  • This role will also collaborate closely with the cross-functional leads to integrate enterprise-wide vaccines dependencies and risks into project planning efforts.
  • Additionally, this role will provide input to the prioritization of program activities and objectives based on knowledge of project plan, resources, and budget and will form productive networks with internal business leaders to manage expectations and integrate diverse needs and perspectives.
  • This role will provide leadership, direction, and coaching to resources supporting the GPH Vaccines programs to drive successful outcomes. This role will also manage and motivate program team members to deliver project objectives by regularly assessing resource needs, removing barriers to success, and providing constructive feedback when needed.
  • This leader will embrace and lead a culture of inclusiveness and multi-cultural engagement through coaching and feedback to peers and the broader community in GPH in alignment with the J&J's Leadership imperatives. This role will also enable a Credo-based & High-Performance Culture within team. Qualifications

    Required:
    • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree
    • A minimum of 12 years of related business experience.
    • A minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience.
    • Experience consulting with senior executive teams to manage and prioritize projects and investments and subsequently design and implement integrated project plans to facilitate implementation or launch of a product/service.
    • Knowledge of project and portfolio management techniques and tools.
    • Significant experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team in the analysis and synthesis of complex data, including financial and operational data and metrics. Ability to interpret data to inform action plans to improve performance.
    • Prior experience in the application of decision analytics to portfolio management, with strong knowledge of the drug development process and the access environment
    • Experience in assessing technology, market environment, & process requirements to successfully drive productivity, strategy optimization, process improvements and efficiencies
    • Direct work experience in project and portfolio management capacity.
    • Proven experience in people management, planning, risk management, and change management.
    • The candidate must have a proven track record of influencing, and relationship building skills that inspire trust and quickly build credibility between key stakeholders.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to facilitate collaborations.
    • This candidate will have proven experience driving progress and remaining focused under ambiguous and complex situations.
    • In addition, this candidate will have strong leadership skills.
    • Experience managing project budgets and resource allocation.Preferred:
      • Advanced degree preferred, such as an MBA degree.
