Job Summ ary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for recording daily cash transactions from multiple bank accounts to the general ledger and performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations. The Staff Accountant supports the monthly financial closing process including the preparation of journal entries consistent with generally accepted accounting principles and various account analysis. , Other responsibilities include supporting the accounts payable functions, preparation of reports and audit activities.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
• Support month-end, year-end financial closes and auditing processes
• Maintain the rent and lease schedules ensuring that they are current and reconcile with the general ledger
• Records daily banking activities to the general ledger and performs bank reconciliations
• Maintains the fixed assets schedule and prepares the appropriate monthly journal entries
• Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
• Assists in the preparation of various management reports, internal analysis and/or regulatory filing requirements like tax filings
• Substantiate financial transactions by gathering supporting documents
• Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
• Communicate with the Controller on work status and client issues that arise
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Other duties as assigned
  
  Minimum Requirements:
  
  • B.S. Accounting
  • 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
