candidate will be responsible for both speculative CRR Trading and
managing retail load related CRR allocations for the West Power
Desk. Specifically, the position will be responsible for assisting
in the management of the CAISO monthly and Annual CRR allocations;
pricing allocation CRRs for monthly and annual auctions, and
actively managing a speculative CRR book. The West Power Desk is
looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team and
support commercial operations in the CAISO and the WECC. Essential
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participate in monthly, annual, and long-term CRR auctions in
the CAISO
- Conduct Power flow modelling using software
(Dayzer...etc.)
- Perform and develop transmission analysis to identify both
short-term and long-term congestion risks
- Analyze large data sets, using statistical software/Excel, to
quantify trading risk exposures and support decision-making related
to congestion
- Provide research as needed to identify possible strategic
business opportunities
- Support NRG's retail customer business as required Minimum
Requirements:
- Previous experience trading FTRs/CRRs in any organized
ISO/RTO
- Comprehensive knowledge of physical and financial power
markets
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in mathematics, engineering,
or other quantitative field from an accredited college or
university (Masters or PhD desirable)
- Strong analytical and data management skills
- Statistical proficiency Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to code in SQL and an object-oriented programming
language (Ruby, Python, VBA)Additional Knowledge, Skills and

- Ability to work with people at all levels of the
organization
- Strong team player who takes initiative and can work
independently
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and adhere to deadlines while
maintaining attention to detail
- Must be a creative thinker with strong investigative and
analytical skillsWorking Conditions:
- Hybrid office environment, 1-2 days working from a home
office
- Evening and weekend work, while not the norm, may be required
