Description Robert Half is looking for an experienced, organized individual to take on the long-term contract / temporary role of Staff Accountant at a growing, dynamic company in the Insurance industry. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will hold responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and work alongside our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position is very involved as it will produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Based in the Warren, New Jersey region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.

- Partake in annual closing processes
- Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
- Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
- Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
- Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
- Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP Requirements - Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- Skilled with ERP systems
- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
- Proficiency in Excel Formulas
- PeopleSoft experience
- Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired
- 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
- Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
