    • Linux Administration
    • Linux Admin with AWS would be even better (EC2, S3 buckets)
    • HPC or clustering experience
    • Good communication skills with scientific staff
    • Eager, self-thinkers
    • Take things from concept to completion
    • Knowing Python is a good skill and any kind of automation (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.), but is NOT a dealbreaker
    • Pharma is not a must-have, seen as a "plus"

          The Scientific Systems Engineer collaborates with scientific colleagues in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of software for computer-aided drug design. The role is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, availability, and performance of specialized compute clusters, 3-D visualization equipment, and hybrid cloud. The selected candidate participates in multi-vendor management, security, and network/Internet protocols.

          Role Responsibilities
          --- Supports day-to-day operations for and works directly with the Computer-Aided Drug Discovery (CADD) group of scientists within the Small Molecule Drug Discovery (SMDD) team by monitoring computing resource performance, managing configurations, and addressing security administration.
          --- Applies revisions to system firmware and software. Engages and collaborates with vendors to assist with support activities as required.
          --- Develops new scientific software deployment plans and custom scripts to ensure operational reliability for SMDD researchers.
          --- Installs, modifies, and maintains various research, modeling, and computational software applications for access on compute clusters. Provides scientist support for software applications and programs.
          --- Designs, installs, configures, and performs document management for cluster infrastructure, including operating systems, job schedulers, resource managers, provisioning managers, configuration managers, network devices, and other components.
          --- Investigates, debugs, and addresses researcher inquiries and requests efficiently through a customer issue ticketing system. Communicates complex technical concepts in simple, straightforward language.
          --- Explores emerging technologies and technical developments to address expanding analytical and computational requirements.
          --- Contributes to an inclusive environment that values differences by building and maintaining collaborative relationships with team members, peers, and IT leaders.
          --- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Client reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
          --- Participate in a weekly on-call rotation (-every 3-4 weeks) as needed.
          --- Provide mission critical production support in case of an outage during off business hours if necessary.

          --- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer information systems, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
          --- 3-5 years of experience in one of the following fields: information technology, Unix/Linux system administration, or high-performance computing.
          --- Strong knowledge of Cloud Platforms in AWS (3+ years) is a plus.
          --- Proficiency with fundamental programming skills (Bash, Python).
          --- Familiar with administration, monitoring, and maintaining secure Linux/Unix operating systems (CentOS).
          --- Familiarity with accelerators (GPUs).
          --- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to establish strong, positive working relationships and rapport with diverse groups of team members. Ability to drive technical leadership and management of complex, large-scale computing system projects.
          --- Proficiency with multi-vendor management, security and network protocols.
          --- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience presenting technical topics to nontechnical audiences.
          --- Familiar with management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Agile methodologies
          --- Red Hat Certified Engineer certification is a plus.
          --- Background in Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology is a plus.
