The Novo Nordisk Inc. Marketing team leads all US marketing efforts for Novo Nordisk's robust diabetes and obesity portfolio, which includes GLP1s, Oral Anti Diabetics (OAD), devices, insulins, analogues and new products in the pipeline. Are you ready to realize your potential? The Position The Marketing Lead is responsible for overseeing the inline & launch for the designated therapeutic area strategy and business planning. Leads and sets US strategic direction and business plans for the designated brands aligned to Novo Nordisk (NN) strategies. In coordination with headquarters, will develop and implement effective pre- and post-launch plans in order to maximize revenue, market share and profitability goals. Has significant decision-making authority and influence on impacting revenue, market share and profitability goals. Leads the annual brand and portfolio strategy planning processes to drive integrated customer centric strategies and programming. Significant contributor to the global strategy for the portfolio by working closely with global marketing and medical team members by participating on cross-functional and global Extended Brand Teams and Core Commercialization Team. Oversight of the U.S Extended Brand team and interacts extensively with other functions within Novo Nordisk. Leads expert advisory discussions and represents the brand plans in management discussions. Relationships Reports to Vice President (VP), Cardiometabolic Marketing. The Marketing Lead is the primary interface with C/SVPs of both commercial and non-commercial functions within Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) relative to assigned brands, their performance and business impact. Interacts with field and home office cross-functional areas, including Senior Leadership within HR, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Legal, Compliance, Finance, IT, and Medical. In addition, serves as a key contact and partner to global colleagues and to a host of vendors/agencies. Manages a marketing brand team (who may also be people leaders). Works closely with other Brand teams, Managed Markets, Patient Marketing, Market Shaping, Marketing Effectiveness. Works in close collaboration with other departments such as Field Sales, Managed Care, Trade and Government, Medical, Regulatory, Legal and actively participates on and may lead global team meetings for designated brand(s). Essential Functions

• Develops the US commercial launch strategy, long range forecasts, and annual business plans
• Provides leadership oversight in developing and executing the overall pre-launch and launch strategic and tactical brand plans in alignment/collaboration with global marketing- this includes in-depth market analysis, market research activities, healthcare professional (HCP) marketing tactics and different market shaping initiatives including but not limited to key opinion leader (KOL) development, advisory boards, clinical communications and medical education programs
• Oversees the development of personal and non-personal HCP promotional materials; ensures alignment of brand positioning, segmentation, messaging and overall objectives
• Works closely with field sales to ensure marketing programs that are developed strongly support their direct and indirect needs with customers and drive appropriate return on investment (ROI)
• Proactively communicates and collaborates with Centers of Excellence (COEs) and others to ensure transparent communications and alignment of strategies and tactics within and outside the department
• Provides expertise and leadership input in the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of each phase of strategic brand planning deliverables
• Provides expertise and leadership to the organization that supports strategy and attainment of NN business and brand objectives. Provides recommendations and makes key decisions on how to align brand strategies, roles, IC design, budget spend, and other key determinants that drive behavior and performance
• Builds and maintains trusting, collaborative relationships and alliances with others inside and outside of the organization to accomplish key business objectives
• Oversees efforts across the Marketing organization to ensure Launch strategy and plan of action (POA) strategy (quality, delivery, timeliness, etc.)
• Apply deep market insights and understanding of market trends, core drivers and barriers and competitive environment to identify growth opportunities for successful implementation of brand strategies
• Coordinates closely campaign development, competitive defense and strategic evolution of the brand
• Serves as an advocate for the US marketing initiatives in the context of global marketing
• Ensures strong collaboration occurs between Global brand objectives, and NNI to deliver against organizational sales goals
• Oversees preparation of TA operating and headcount budgets and is responsible for monitoring performance against budgets
• Develop short and long-term forecasts based on market dynamics, commercial inputs and macro-economic environment with Commercial Effectiveness
• Accountable for Profit & Loss (P&L) of their respective portfolio
• Ensures marketing resources have been appropriately identified and are efficiently being utilized to reach ambitious goals and achieving profitability target
• Responsible for overseeing multi-million-dollar marketing budget and ensures budget remains on track
• Maximizes revenue and profitability and understands return on investment (ROI) concepts to ensure effectiveness of all brand and portfolio-related initiatives
• Ensures short and long-term sales/marketing and market share objectives are met Physical Requirements Development of People Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way. Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 years' experience
  • Requires at least 5 years' experience leading a team
  • Requires demonstrated history of within multiple specialized Marketing Areas (for example, launch readiness, strategic brand management, etc.) with a progressive increase in responsibility and scope in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills in leading cross-functional teams required
  • Excellent presentation/communications skills required
  • Proven track record of innovative market shaping accomplishments/high impact results (based on metrics/ROI)
  • Solid understanding of the marketplace and competition, preferably within diabetes
  • Strategic Planning, Execution and follow-through skills required
  • Ability to impact and influence and interact with senior business leaders and partners
