Primary Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Financial Reporting will be responsible for the company accounting policies, drafting all financial filings to the SEC and will support technical accounting and audit issues:

* Develop and maintain the appropriate accounting policies and procedures consistent with public company standards
* Provide subject matter expertise and establish processes for the timely, accurate submission or financial filings; continuously improve processes
* Facilitate and manage the accurate and timely preparation and filing of the company's 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K filings, including drafting/reviewing footnote disclosures, and the issuance of the earnings release
* Work with relevant stakeholders to collect information, conduct reviews, and address comments on filings; prepare supporting schedules, challenge the appropriateness of disclosures, complete the relevant disclosure checklists and questionnaires
* Lead identification, selection, and implementation of SEC reporting tool
* Monitor changes to SEC filing and disclosure requirements, assess impact to TerraCycle, communicate key changes to leadership and lead appropriate updates to policies and procedures
* In collaboration with the Director of Accounting, work with counsel and external auditors as needed to ensure completion of financial audits
* Assist with technical accounting research and documentation of new policies and procedures
* Assist with month-end close and financial statement review (e.g., review high-risk accounts prepared by the core Accounting team)
* Maintain effective controls over the SEC reporting process
* Support special projects
* Additional requests as assigned by management

Requirements

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, active CPA
* Minimum 10 years of accounting experience, preferably with a mix of public and corporate accounting
* Extern audit experience desirable
* Extensive knowledge of US GAAP; working knowledge of IFRS
* Extensive knowledge of SEC guidelines and reporting procedures
* Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and to drive process improvements
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across levels
* Experience building and leading teams
* Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work with offices in different geographic regions
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and to solve complex problems
* Experience using an ERP platform required (e.g., Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards); SAP Business One experience desirable
* Familiarity with SEC Reporting tools desirable (e.g., Workiva WDesk, Donnelley ActiveDisclosure)
* Strong Excel skills
