Job Description:
Interstate Waste Services, a leader in non-hazardous waste
management in the U.S. Northeast, is seeking an experienced Heavy
Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair various types of
heavy-duty machinery used in our waste management operations. As an
integral part of our maintenance team, you will ensure that all
vehicles and equipment perform optimally and comply with safety
standards. Perform regular maintenance and repairs on heavy
equipment including compactors, bulldozers, front-end loaders, and
other waste management vehicles. Diagnose mechanical issues and
determine the appropriate solutions under time constraints.
Complete job reports and documentation in compliance with company
policies. Collaborate with the maintenance team to coordinate
repairs and share insights from field experiences. Adhere strictly
to safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe environment
for all team members. Train and mentor junior mechanics, helping to
enhance team skills and effectiveness. In-depth knowledge of diesel
engines and hydraulic systems. Proficiency in using diagnostic
tools and equipment. Ability to weld and fabricate as needed.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Excellent
communication and teamwork skills. Medical Insurance Dental

Driver’s License (CDL) preferred. Certifications from the National
Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in areas such as
Heavy Truck Equipment or similar are highly advantageous.
