Summary
Automation Engineer will work in the Equipment Development and
Automation Team at TRUMPF Photonics Inc. The Equipment Development
and Automation Team is responsible to provide software and hardware
automation solutions to Production and R&D needs within TRUMPF
Photonics while collaborate with other sites across the TRUMPF
Group in automation projects. The responsibilities of this
individual will be automation equipment development, MES equipment
integration, machine vision and routine support of equipment
related production and R&D activities.
Automation Engineer Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Develop automated equipment for semiconductor laser testing and
assembly, experience with industrial robot, PLC, or high precision
motion control is desired, semiconductor industry experience is a
plus.
Develop software solutions to integrate production equipment into
companywide Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). MUST have proven
software programming skills, MES or PAC experience is a plus.
Develop machine vision algorithms and programs for semiconductor
wafer inspection processes, proven machine vision knowledge is
desired.
Support routine production activity as needed, hands-on
troubleshooting and root cause analysis of production equipment
issues are required.
Identify potential improvements in existing equipment for
cost-reduction and yield improvement.
Work closely with production engineering team and R&D engineers
in multidisciplinary projects of automation equipment development
and design reviews, need to be able to understand mechanical or
electrical design drawings, schematics and hardware-in-the-loop
programs.
Ability to work independently in own projects and collaborate with
team members or colleagues from other teams in projects.
Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
willing to take responsibilities and ownership in automation
projects.

Automation Engineer Qualifications
This position requires 2+ years' experience with a bachelor's
degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical
engineering or related engineering discipline, advanced degree or
previous semi-conductor industrial experience is a plus.
Must be PROFICIENT in at least one of the following programming
skills, C#, C++, Python, LabView, Matlab, Java, SQL, Visual Basic,
PLC, etc. Software programming will be expected on a daily basis
for this position.
Previous experience in automation system integration, MES equipment
integration, PAC, or machine vision is preferred.
Hands-on skills with extensive instrumentation, troubleshooting and
equipment assembly experience, statistics and data analysis skills
are highly desired.
Must be able to wear a clean room smock and conduct assembly work
with up to 20 lbs. equipment.
