Job Description:
L.J. Gonzer Associates is looking for individuals to join our
pool of qualified candidates for potential assignment as a
Mechanical Project Engineer. This is a long term contract
opportunity with potential extensions. The Mechanical Project
Engineer will supervise and assist with alterations and
improvements to our client's mechanical systems and equipment. All
work will be performed at our client's site in Princeton,
NJ.Responsibilities of the Mechanical Project Engineer:Contribute
to mechanical design and analysis of components.Carry out the
process of designing, documenting, and reviewing engineering
designs and calculations.Assist in preparation of cost and schedule
estimates.Prepare documentation such as: installation procedures,
analysis reports, calculations, system description documents, and
design reviews.Supervise the preparation, approval, and release of
drawings for manufacturing.Oversee and/or supervise the
fabrication, installation, and commissioning of designed
components.Write specifications and statements of work to establish
external standards for suppliers and vendors.Coordinate the work of
drafters, technicians, and other members of support staff who
assist in specific assignments.Requirements of the Mechanical
Project Engineer:A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. An
advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering is desirable.At least two
(2) years of experience in the areas of mechanical engineering or
mechanical design, preferably in a scientific or R&D
environment.Familiarity with basic mechanical analysts.Fluency with
3D modeling/CAD and development/review of fabrication
drawings.Knowledge of "State of the Art" manufacturing methods
preferred.Proficiency with GD&T preferred.Experience with
metrology and tolerance studies preferred.Design experience in the
following areas is preferred: mechanisms and linkages, high heat
flux components, specialty materials and austenitic steels,
diagnostic components, superconducting magnet, and/or components in
