Detector Manufacturing Engineer
The Detector Manufacturing Engineer is the liaison between R&D
and production. This position will focus on ensuring that each new
HORIBA Detector product meets production readiness requirements
associated with the proper manufacturing and test, prior to its
release to production.
Qualifications:
- BS degree (or above), in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering,
or relevant equivalent experience.
- 7-10 years of prior experience around instrumentation products
for the biomedical, scientific or industrial sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with R&D to test and qualify new prototype
detector designs.
- Creating and implementing ISO work procedures to meet product
assembly/test specifications.
- Analyzing product manufacturing data, statistics, and processes
to promote/improve quality and efficiency.
- Supporting / participating in manufacturing fixture designs for
new and existing products.
- Creating / modifying mechanical drawings for product/fixtures
as required.
- Working in SAP to add and modify BOM parts as needed.
- Implementing ECOs as needed.
- Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal
skills. Requirements:
- Knowledge and use of AutoCad, as well as, PTC Creo or Solid
Works.
- Practical hands-on approach in transitioning newly designed
products into a repetitive / volume production environment.
- Previous liaison role in bridging design and manufacturing
groups with all facets of production readiness and resolution of
manufacturing and/or design anomalies.
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Familiarity with the proper handling of optics and electronic
board assemblies.
- Ability to perform basic electronic troubleshooting using DVMs
and scopes.
- Proven ability to identify, assess, solve problems and
implement process improvements.
- Outstanding organizational, analytical, decision-making, and
problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail. Ability to define problems, collect
data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Solid time management skills. Ability to concentrate on meeting
objectives and performance.
- Flexibility and ability to multi-task several priorities when
encountering evolving business goals. Preferred Attributes (one or
more viewed as a plus):
- Previous SAP working experience
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical instruments housing
photosensitive detectors, electronic PCBs, Peltiers, optics and
flexes.
- Working knowledge of vacuum and/or cryogenic processes.
- Previous experience supporting CCD/CMOS products in a design or
manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of thermal electric devices and low outgassing
thermal management adhesives/epoxies.
- Familiarity with product techniques associated with instrument
AC-DC power distribution, cooling, and grounding.
