opportunities for development and growth. Job Summary News 12 and
specifically News 12 NY is looking for a Director of Broadcast
Engineering to help manage our production and distribution
infrastructure, including IP systems and streaming technology. News
12 is a progressive and innovative hyper-local news organization
with multiple newsrooms in the tri-state area. This role is
responsible for maintaining, developing, and overseeing the
technical operations of our broadcast distribution platforms to
support live news production of News 12 New York. The Director
Broadcast Engineering is a leadership role requiring excellent
technical knowledge and the ability to innovate production
capability and workflows, while helping to build a culture of
excellence. Responsibilities Oversee all technological
requirements, solutions, and operations for News12’s broadcast
distribution platforms and OTT distribution systems. Design and
deploy IP video distribution systems integrated with a corporate
network environment for the division’s OTT brands. As needed, help
engineering managers to guide and supervise, a team of Broadcast
Engineers responsible for maintaining 24/7 operations and
production, as well as OTT distribution. Responsible for system
design, as well as maintaining a hands-on role in subsequent
purchase, configuration and support of all broadcast systems. Work
as a team to research, design, purchase, and implement broadcast
technology. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and
implement strategies for optimizing content delivery. Secure and
help manage relationships with third party vendors/contractors for
all broadcast studio needs. Stay up-to-date on new broadcasting
techniques, industry trends and advancements in technology to
ensure utilization of the most innovative and effective methods.
Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for
improvement and implement solutions. Manage budgets and resources
effectively to ensure cost-efficient operations. Maintain a secure
IT network following industry best practices; develop and maintain
disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and ensure
uninterrupted content delivery. Communicate regularly with senior
management and provide reports on the performance of broadcast
distribution operations. Act as a liaison between technical and
non-technical teams, translating complex technical concepts into
easily understandable terms. Ensure compliance with all relevant
regulations and industry standards. Coordinate and act as the
liaison between News12 New York and Corporate IT, Network Security,
app Development, and the Digital Head end teams. Handle other
facilities related, security, IT, or operations related issues as
they arise, responding promptly to any technical issues or
emergencies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or related experience
required 10 years of experience in broadcast engineering, including
experience with IP video distribution systems Highly knowledgeable
in many kinds of technology including video and audio production
equipment, Windows, Linux and Mac OS systems administration, cloud
computing, and many areas of IT and network design/administration
Previous experience helpful in all areas of technical production:
repair, configuration, and operation of studio production
equipment, including Broadcast Audio, Video and Control Systems,
Video Servers, Storage Area Networks, RF Systems, Editing, Post
Production Systems, and Master Control playout software/hardware
Advanced knowledge of IP video distribution systems Knowledge of
network design and implementation as well as industry best
practices Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with
an ability to communicate and interact with employees and leaders
at all levels of the organization and communicate highly complex
technical problems or projects to a non-technical audience Hands on
experience with AWS cloud computing including hands on experience

law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related
factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay
rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location
is $155,509.00 - $255,479.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein
is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect
future job opportunity.
