American multinational technology company that specializes in business communications is hiring a head of technical accounting. Job SummaryThis role will provide technical accounting expertise to ensure that the Company is compliant with US GAAP.--Reporting to the Director of External Reporting and Technical Accounting, the individual will be responsible for collaborating with business leaders to provide technical accounting guidance on strategic and complex business transactions and documenting conclusions through accounting position papers and executive summaries that will be used in the global finance organization.--The individual will also be responsible for reviewing new Accounting Standards Updates and assessing the impact to the Company, maintaining the Company's written accounting policies and coordinating requests with our external auditors.--The position will also have accounting responsibilities for certain areas of a more complex nature, including the preparation of all related footnote disclosures in the Company's SEC filings (10Q/10K/8K). Essential Functions* Perform technical accounting research and documentation for significant and complex business transactions, including the preparation of accounting position papers and executive summaries documenting conclusions.* Work closely with various business leaders including Treasury, HR, Legal, FP&A, IT, Real Estate, etc. to provide guidance on the accounting ramifications of strategic transactions.* Maintain the Company's written accounting policies and provide guidance throughout the organization on the application of such policies.* Research and resolve technical accounting issues on a timely basis and present conclusions to the Company's external auditors.* Provide assistance with the Company's external reporting process, including the drafting of footnote disclosures for technical accounting areas.* Perform the technical accounting for certain specific areas including: lease accounting, share-based compensation, goodwill impairment testing, fair value measurements, derivatives and hedging activities, EPS, consolidation and variable-interest-entities etc.* Stay current on changes to accounting regulations.--Summarize new and proposed accounting standards and their impact to the Company for senior managementRequirements10-20 years big 4 or a combo background
