Director - Enterprise Strategy Integration Location Job category Communication and Corporate Affairs About the Department The BioPharm & Strategy team is a diverse, inclusive and innovative team with the mandate to facilitate the development and coordinate the execution of our North America Operations (NAO) Region's long term strategy, defining our sustainable business model beyond today's focus, performance and leadership impact. The team is comprised of distinct but connected areas: the BioPharm Commercial Business Unit, the Enterprise Strategy, Digital Health and Innovation teams and the newly created Future Business Strategy team. The Position Responsible for helping to define and pull-through the enterprise strategy in support of a sustainable growth model for NAO. This role will be responsible for driving Novo Nordisk's overall strategic planning, inclusive of multiple levels of Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) and Global collaboration and inputs. Serves as a key partner to the Vice President (VP), Enterprise Strategy in communicating with and activating organizational leadership in support of strategic implementation, change management and execution. This role will focus and lead teams toward development and execution of cross-organizational strategic choices that optimize longer-term North American strategic direction and resource allocation. Relationships Reports to the VP - Enterprise Strategy. Internal interactions may include NNI Executive Team, Executive Office, NNI LT, functional leads, NNA/S Corporate Strategy and other HQ counterparts to ensure strategic coordination across Novo Nordisk, Inc. External relationships may include interactions with various subject matter experts and vendors based on the needs of special projects or implementation of new programs. Essential Functions

• Actively manage 3-5-year business strategy and pull-through for Novo Nordisk, Inc. to ensure clear and focused strategic direction, alignment and implementation across the value chain
• Drive overall NNI strategic planning process to guide and coordinate various levels of NNI and HQ planning, short and long-term initiatives, and capital allocation
• Support VP on key deliverables, providing strategic, commercial and financial perspectives on key decisions, thought leadership on key topics and content for internal and external presentations
• Develop clear and concise strategic communications and presentations for LT and ET engagement, socialization and activation
• Synthesize and assess therapy area strategies to ensure collective alignment toward ambition and NNI enterprise strategic goals
• Conduct benchmarking, market landscape assessments, scenario planning analyses and business case development in support of strategic recommendations and decisions
• Develop and analyse strategic questions/options and provide evidenced-based recommendations based on internal and external analyses and investment alternatives
• Align with NNI stakeholders to ensure initiatives are anchored to NNI's ambition, enterprise strategic actions and appropriately influence annual AB process in conjunction with longer-term investment needs
• Translate changes in macro environmental landscape to clear and actionable insights, and develop innovative and actionable scenario-based response strategies that will strengthen Novo Nordisk's future competitive position
• Proactively adjust strategic plans and/or define executional implications as environmental landscape or organizational priorities evolve
• Monitor strategy progress (i.e. success criteria, metrics and KPIs) and determine course corrections
• Develop high quality, oral and written content to facilitate strategy-focused ET/LT meetings, presentations, workshops, etc.
• Drive and execute strategic projects for VP, combining external insights and internal thinking to propose appropriate operational, financial, and administrative activities
• Manage alignment of strategic direction, actions and decisions to key executive presentations, including Board of Directors, Executive Management, Management Board, Company Meetings
• Maintain an enterprise lens to ensure enterprise-wide initiatives, scenarios, risks, and opportunities are reflected in NAO and BU strategic decisions
• Collaborate with communications and change management teams to develop and deploy communications strategy
• Serve as liaison and strong collaborator with NNI and Global stakeholders Physical Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively relevant corporate business strategy development and planning, marketing and brand management, consulting, commercial operations experience required; pharmaceutical or CPG industries strongly preferred
  • Business case development and finance experience preferred
  • Understanding of the external marketplace and familiarity in metabolic disease areas preferred
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with senior management and communicate effectively to the highest level of executives
  • Strong decision-making skills through demonstrated ability to leverage evidenced-based insights and sound judgement into strategy development, deployment and optimization
  • Project management, process development and change management experience required
  • Ability to manage competing priorities; strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to streamline and simplify complex concepts for broader audience
