Join us and make a difference.Position Summary:In partnership with key functions and across therapeutic areas, the Director of Business Development for the Cell Therapy (CT) Franchise is accountable for the development of an integrated CT business development Strategy. This position will also represent the franchise on execution of activities including due diligences, contract review, and preparation for governance meetings.Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the cross-functional point of contact to develop an integrated CT BD strategy within a broader CT integrated strategy across TAs & platforms
  • Work closely with enterprise BD team to ensure that the CT external strategy reflects CT Franchise ambitions through relevant prioritized initiatives
  • Analyze and deeply understand external innovation landscape including both biotech and academia to inform BD strategy and opportunity prioritization
  • Key working team member of CT workstream Portfolio & platform Investment, specifically focused on sub-workstream determining internal/external investment strategy on platforms, TAs, and portfolio to provide CT Franchise BD strategy lens
    • Synthesize inputs from functions on the CT marketplace and its dynamics, customers, competitors and future development trends to develop CT BD strategic inputs
    • Develop a long-term view of CT franchise business needs and identify gaps and inform high-level investment approach (e.g., areas of investment, preferences for internal vs. external approaches, etc.)
    • In conjunction with enterprise BD teams, develop recommendations on innovations, programs, assets, and partnerships based on identified & prioritized CT growth opportunities that will augment our internal pipeline
    • Provide strategic input into diligence specific opportunities and collaborate with business counterparts across TAs and functions
    • Participate in teams and committees to advance BD strategy and planning and support program management (e.g., create materials for presentations to governance forums)
    • Review integrated BD strategy with CT Franchise Lead as appropriate, and support enterprise BD team in bringing key decisions to CT governance forums (e.g., CT LT)Skills/Knowledge Required:
      • Minimum 8-10 years of business experience in biopharma
      • Secondary scientific or relevant degree preferred; e.g. MS, PhD, MD, PharmD, MBA
      • Relevant experience in Hematology / Cell Therapy is preferable Extensive working knowledge in strategic planning, business planning and financial skills
      • Extensive working knowledge of US/Global key considerations in the Pharmaceutical industry (e.g., competitive landscape, regulations)
      • Scientific and market knowledge of Cell Therapy highly desirable
      • Broad knowledge of drug development, manufacturing and commercialization processes
      • Ability to work on major cross-functional strategic initiatives
      • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; effectively structures business problems, leverages data (qualitative and quantitative) to identify insights and inform recommendations; leverages key matrix partners (i.e., BI&A)
      • Focus on execution and value delivery; simplifies unnecessary complexity to get to action and value
      • Executive-level written and oral communication skills
      • Ability to navigate through a complex and dynamic healthcare environment
