The Greenwood Ave. Farmers Market, ran by the Capital Area YMCA, is excited to once again serve the Trenton community this summer because we believe that all people should have access to healthy, farm fresh food. With health care screenings and education, we strive to create an environment that is about more than simply buying food. We promote access to fresh food for all as an EBT approved market and provide matching dollars for customers on benefits that include EBT SNAP, WIC, FMNP and SFMNP. Reporting directly to the Food Access Coordinator, the Farmers Market Manager supervises all activities on site at the market and is expected to attend every market on Mondays from June 13 through September 26 for the 2022 season (closed July 4th and Sept 5th). Any pre-planned summer vacations should be disclosed at time of application. This position is budgeted to pay $22 - $25 per hour depending on experience for an estimated 15 hours weekly (more hours may be allotted for ideal candidate). In addition to stellar attendance, the market manager is expected to: --- Adhere to the policies of the Capital Area YMCA & local, state and federal guidelines. --- Establish and follow detailed health and safety protocols that align with the CDC guidelines that minimizes the spread of Covid-19. --- Hire, train and manage staff and volunteers --- Troubleshoot site issues and problem solve with the team. --- Take and maintain inventory of market supplies, help develop signage and an efficient system that maximizes the space and location which includes the parking lot and storage containers. --- Plan for upcoming programs and new sites. --- Attend community events to promote the market --- In partnership with our Director of Marketing and Communications, develop a concise marketing plan including all social media outlets, as well as all online and print media. --- Encourages and supports site staff. --- Have knowledge of and follow all emergency procedures. In partnership with the Assistant Market Manager, able to accomplish the following: --- Coordinate roles and responsibilities of partners, apprentices and volunteers --- Plan safe Market Fests (usually last Monday of the month)--- Connect with partners; Order giveaways --- Schedule DJs, vendors, health services, and recruit volunteers for the market --- Respond to all emails and phone calls inquiring about the market --- Attend planning meetings and required meetings by funders --- Follow established accounting procedures for paying vendors for EBT funds and matching dollars --- Maintain online data entry weekly and coordinate date with evaluation team --- Plan and participate in the End of Season Annual Debrief Brunch (normally takes place 4 to 6 weeks after the last market) YMCA COMPETENCIES: Mission Advancement : Accepts and demonstrates the Y's values. Requirements:
--- Minimum HS Diploma; Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required. --- At least 21 years of age --- Understanding, knowledge of, and experience leading staff teams, identifying natural leaders and providing development opportunities for staff to further their education and commitment to the YMCA and its Mission. --- Warm and friendly personality and a positive role model for children, staff, and parents. --- Strong appreciation for working in a diverse environment that values full inclusion of staff and membership. --- Strong communication skills delivered with a positive attitude. Organization and quick follow-through is "key" to a candidate's success in this position. --- Able to manage several projects at once and oversee them through completion is imperative. --- Competent in Word, Excel, Google Docs and PowerPoint --- A "can-do" spirit and looks for ways to better processes. --- Ability to problem solve --- Previous customer service experience --- Organized and attentive to detail --- Able to attend all markets on Mondays June through September 2022 from 10 am to 6:30 pm Preferred Skills

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
