Job Description:
The Permitting Director will lead the offshore wind permitting
and external affairs strategies to ensure delivery of key project
milestones.
The role will be responsible for scoping, development, and
management of the project's permitting schedule, budget, risk
management to secure federal, state, and local permits for offshore
wind projects.
The role will also be responsible for development and execution of
critical external affairs and outreach strategies, including
community and stakeholder engagement, governmental affairs, as well
as overall public positioning within the market.
The role will encompass all stages and aspects of developing
offshore wind projects from scoping, project development and
planning, site investigations, and environmental impact
assessments.
The Permitting Director is responsible for all efforts within the
project's permitting and outreach teams and requires stellar
supervisory and organization skills to motivate and foster a
constructive and communicative team that contributes positively to
the project as well as serves as the public facing effort of the
project.
The Permitting Director will play a key role in representing the
company and its offshore wind projects among industry associations,
working groups, public entities, local communities and with key
external stakeholders and interest groups.
Main Tasks:
Develop and manage permitting strategies and implementation of all
applicable federal and state permitting and environmental
topics
Support project management's oversight that the project is designed
and constructed in compliance with all policies, and in
consideration of best practices and guidance, and all permits are
secured in a timely manner
Manage the development of a comprehensive and inclusive community
and stakeholder engagement strategy
Responsible for proactive and clear communication with internal and
external stakeholders, including senior management, on project's
permitting risks and progress in relation to schedule and
budget
Manage a team of permitting and external affairs specialists and
delegate project tasks to establish a positive and constructive
team spirit that encourages professional growth and
collaboration
Manage the development of a proactive and public facing position
and brand identity in support of the project's development goals
within the market
Maintain a proactive and inclusive stakeholder outreach effort
across project workstreams
Lead and manage federal and state permitting processes, including
consultations with relevant federal and state agencies (e.g., BOEM,
NOAA/NMFS, USACE, USFWS, USCG, USACE, etc.), internal and external
stakeholder management, permit application preparation, submittals
and approvals, etc.
