Job DescriptionPosition Summary: Exceptional leadership skills to lead the Office of Safety, Environmental and Emergency Management; develop and implement corporate safety and environmental training programs; assure compliance with federal, state and local policies and procedures in the areas of safety and environmental regulation and standards. This position has management responsibility in safety, environmental and emergency management matters throughout the corporation and serves as an authority on safety and environmental matters. This responsibility includes oversight, vendor (engineering and legal partners) management and administration of ETS master development plan approvals and authorities including but not limited to internal stakeholders NDEP, DRCC, Stoney Brook Millstone and Watershed, Lawrence Township, Mercer County and the State of NJ. Responsibilities:

  • Establish long and short-term safety and environmental departmental goals and objectives in conjunction with divisional planning. Establish safety and environmental action plans to meet the established goals and objectives.
  • Assure compliance with Federal, state and local standards and regulations and applicable corporate safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain, coordinate, and update environmental and safety operating standards as they are related to federal, state and local regulations/standards and applicable ETS standards.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement procedures for the investigation of accidents, incidents and reporting of safety and environmental related matters.
  • Develop, coordinate, implement and manage the effective accomplishment of safety and environmental activities throughout the corporation to ensure the safety of ETS, the corporation, its employees, clients and visitors. Work with ETS staff, as well as contractors, clients and consultants to conduct inspections, investigation and analyses to ensure that federal, state, and local policies, procedures, standards and regulations are being utilized and followed during working actions while on ETS premises and in ETS buildings.
  • Interact with ETS officers, division directors, managers, supervisors and others to plan, coordinate and resolve problems related to specific safety and environmental concerns.
  • Serve as the safety expert for ETS and act as liaison between the office of Corporate Security, Safety and Environmental Management, General Counsel's Office, Management Services senior management and ETS staff.
  • Develop, coordinate, implement and manage safety-training programs for the corporation.
  • Represent ETS to federal, state, local and public agencies and officials. Act as a resource person for matters of environmental and safety concerns.
  • Recommend, coordinate and implement the purchase of safety/environmental equipment, systems and procedures to enhance cost effectiveness, timeliness and quality of safety/environmental services.
  • Develop, coordinate, implement and conduct regular sampling of ETS Princeton Office sites for indoor air quality levels.
  • Provide in-depth analysis and comprehensive reports to justify changes, organizational structures and activities pertaining to results of area samples, investigations, accidents and other safety/environmental related matters.
  • Perform special assignments on an inter/interdivisional basis including participation on corporate committees and task forces.
  • Manage the development of an ETS Emergency Operations Plan focused on developing an all-hazards approach to prevent, mitigate and recover from a human caused or natural disaster.
  • Perform additional supervisory and managerial responsibilities.
  • Oversee the maintenance and submission of environmental permits and reports, hazardous chemical reporting insuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the annual fire inspections at all Princeton sites, ensuring that all violations are corrected.
  • Represent the Corporate Security, Safety & Environmental Management Department with area management personnel, ETS and committees, business units, and special interest groups. Interact with division directors, system managers, other managers and supervisors, and clients to coordinate activities and resolve problems.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function.

  • Collaborate with internal business leads, including senior leadership, and external stakeholder groups to achieve key sustainability goals; develop strong relationships and partnerships.
  • Maintain understanding of leading trends and changes in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and overall sustainability landscape, including regulatory issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise input and feedback in the development of materials to promote our sustainability program and activities to be used on the company communication platforms.
  • Represent ETS Sustainability team on multiple internal working groups and in external practice communities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise input and feedback in the ETS campus master development plan and associated permitting processes. Collaborate with state government agencies, local township and outside consultants to coordinate activities.
  • Acts as internal SME and resource for review of impacts of all projects on master plan permits, including construction, demolition, remodels, repair, etc. Review and approval authority for projects and external requests affecting ETS master and site plans.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function.
  • Oversee the development of an ETS Emergency Management Exercise Schedule
  • Develop reports for ETS executive staff on greenhouse gas reduction strategy.
  • Interacts with internal and external stakeholders to plan, mitigate, respond and recover from health emergencies that may adversely impact ETS workforce.

    Education, Certifications, or Special Licenses:
    • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.
    • Five or more years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge can be acquired.Other Requirements:
      • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills can synthesize information and offer recommendations/solutions.
      • Deep knowledge of social and environmental issues, NGO & regulatory landscape and sustainability claims.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Demonstrated program management skills, particularly with planning methods and coordinating programs, as well as budget preparation and monitoring.
      • Ability to independently manage complex projects with cross-functional teams.
      • Exceptional interpersonal skills for interaction with key leadership functions.
