Job DescriptionAPN Consulting has an immediate need for a direct client requirement:Position: User Experience Design ManagerLocation: Piscataway, NJPermanentJob Summary : The overall purpose of this position is to develop, lead, manage, and coordinate activities and processes required to ensure that Client Xplore delivers a continuously high-quality user experience. The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for managing the application of best practices and state-of-the-art techniques for user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design, ease of use, usability, and web accessibility. This position also supports Client's business, product and marketing objectives via design and continuous evolution of engaging and compelling user experiences for Client Xplore and other Client products. The role typically reports to a Director and manages 0-1 direct reports. This position works under minimal supervision and makes recommendations to management on approval/signoff for contracts and other project related documents. The role also makes recommendations on departmental procedures and is accountable for the improvement, success and growth of the UI for all Platforms.Key Responsibilities Lead, coordinate and manage the UI/UX for Client Xplore via visioning, design, and continuous evolution of highly engaging, intuitive and compelling user experiences in keeping with Client's aspirational goal of delivering best-in-class user experiences. This role includes researching industry-wide best practices and innovations and championing the adoption of these for continuous improvement. Provide guidance and serve as Client lead in Client Xplore UI/UX design ideation with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support business objectives for Client subscription products and other Products, Marketing and Sales initiatives. Define user interaction flows, paths, and scenarios; create user interface/interaction wire frames, mockups, and prototypes that reflect latest industry practices and standards; manage consistency of UI/UX deliverables and graphic standards across all projects. Create project plans including timelines and budgets. Mentor, develop, and manage direct reports to support achievement of individual, team and Client objectives. Develop and manage the relationships, contracts, and deliverables from external vendors, including negotiation of contract terms and pricing. Undertake market and user research, present concise recommendations, and implement the UI/UX changes; seek out and apply innovative, state-of-the-art UI/UX design concepts and techniques. Coordinate usability testing to improve UI/UX design of existing or new Client Xplore features. Develop and manage the Client Xplore style guide and other documentation for UI/UX design guidelines and specifications. Develop strategies, policies and goals for UX/UI best practices and state-of-the-art methodologies for Client Xplore . Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications or product), human-computer interaction (HCI) or related field Req Work Experience 4-7 years Demonstrated experience and accomplishments in user interface (UI) and user experience design (UXD). Req Skills and Requirements Hands on experience and proficiency with design software such as Dreamweaver, Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Experience with Axure, Balsamiq, Omnigraffle, Visio for wireframes and prototyping. Working knowledge of HTML, HTML5, CSS/CSS3 and Javascript libraries. Highly creative with strong expertise and knowledge of user interface/interaction design methodology and practices. Deep appreciation for clean, simple, usable interfaces and understanding of user-centric interaction design principles. Rock solid skills in graphic design, with an eye for typography, palette development, intuitive layout, and pixel-level attention to detail. Thorough understanding of website design, information architecture, navigation, basic usability, and applicable industry standards. Experience in Lean UX practices and working with Agile (Scrum) Development teams. Experience with usability testing and converting user feedback into workable designs. Familiarity with web front-end and presentation layer concepts and technologies. Experience with responsive design and designing for mobile devices. Good interpersonal skills are essential. Must be able to work with CLIENT staff at all levels to provide information, reach consensus, and meet defined objectives. Effective presentation skills with ability to communicate creative and/or technical concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences inside and outside CLIENT . Excellent writing skills and ability to prepare various documents and reports as required by assigned responsibilities. Must be able to identify, evaluate and reconcile competing priorities from different functional areas to meet stated objectives.
