Meals on Wheels of Mercer CountySalary: $65,000The Director of Volunteer Services leads and manages all areas of the department including recruitment, retention, and recognition of the MOWMC volunteer corps. The Director establishes a vision for all Volunteer Service functions using new and innovative strategies to stay current in a changing environment, keeping MOWMC cutting-edge in all aspects of volunteer programming. This position is full time, salaried and reports directly to the Chief Program Officer.Recruitment:-Identify, develop, and implement creative volunteer recruitment strategies and methods to attract and retain a sufficient pool of volunteers to maintain efficient operations as part of a strategic plan.-Builds strategic community relationships to leverage recruitment initiatives and add to the growing base of volunteers.-Creates and/or modifies existing recruiting materials, makes presentations to various organizations (churches, corporations, colleges/universities, community events, civic groups, etc.); Researches and posts on multiple volunteer recruitment sites.-Assesses opportunities and needs for volunteers agency-wide; develop innovative opportunities for volunteer service throughout the organization and maintain job descriptions.-Writes periodic articles regarding volunteers/participants for agency newsletter with an eye on volunteer recruitmentRetention:-By providing leadership, trains and manages all volunteers on policies and procedures. Manages the virtual onboarding process including paperwork, needed documents, waivers and background checks. Makes sure volunteer policies and procedures including: volunteer forms, volunteer handbook and a code of conduct and virtual training are current.-Ensures volunteers are satisfied by creating a healthy working environment, taking into consideration their periodic feedback through an annual survey.-Employ volunteer management practices including ongoing communication with volunteers on site and through weekly updates, email, newsletter, etc., including weather or emergency events-Ensure customer excellence by continually assessing all protocols and processes by using best practices and improving efficiency.-Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with volunteer positions and ensure controls are in place to protect volunteers, programs, the organization, and the community-Manage and schedule student volunteers and interns, including the Bonner students. Attends various student trainings and open houses to promote MOWMC volunteers' opportunities. Acts as MOWMC liaison with various campus representatives.Responsible for ensuring that all meal delivery routes are covered daily through MOW Scheduler. Complete deliveries for all routes at least once to familiarize with -nuances of the routes.-Evaluate the need for ongoing training of volunteers. Arrange for training when needed. To include special topics to enhance the general knowledge of the volunteers in their work with our participants-Ensures that all records of volunteers are up to date with the most current required documents in the files.; ensures that all volunteers submit to background checks, and insurance and licenses are current and up to date.-Leads, convenes, and works with the Volunteer Committee, meeting at least twice per year.Recognitio n: -Coordinates and helps plan all volunteer recognition events.Works with the volunteer committee in planning the annual recognition luncheon, picnic, and other events as required.-Uses creative and innovative ideas to develop additional recognition activities throughout the year (ex. Birthday cards and anniversary's); keeps up with and shares volunteer news (new volunteers, new retirees, recent deaths, illnesses, etc.)Other duties:-Supervise part time staff.-Track, manage and collect all volunteer data paying close attention to trends.-Focus on program impact by speaking with volunteers and hearing their stories.-Ensure that all volunteer delivery equipment is well cared for, stored and accounted for at Rider University.-Coordinate all supplemental programs with Program Director such as the pet food program, grocery program (forms), farmers market, etc.-Represents the agency at all public volunteer recruitment events and does public speaking events promoting agency and volunteer opportunities. Attends all volunteer focused meetings and events focusing on recruiting, retraining, and recognizing potential volunteers.-Seek out professional development opportunities by attending conferences, workshops etc.General:-Works cooperatively and in a collegial manner with all Meals on Wheels staff.-Staff's agency information table at various community events and fairs-Provides periodic updates to the CEO and Board of Trustees-Performs any other duties/tasks required by the CPO and CEO.QUALIFICATIONS:-Candidate will hold a Master's degree in social work, or any related human services field. Proven experience in the area of volunteer management is a plus.-Candidate will have at least 4 years in the Human services field and 2 years supervisory experience. Experience with and in the Mercer County social service -community desired.Candidate will have experience in volunteering in a similar organization, and an understanding and appreciation for an older adult population.-The candidate will be a team player who will contribute to the overall advancement of the mission and direction of MOWMC. They must be highly motivated, flexible and enjoy working in a diverse environment that is in constant flux. They will be visionary, organized, creative, possess good time management skills, be detail oriented, have employee management skills, and impeccable customer service skills. A demonstrated ability to work independently, and the use of good judgment is a must. Familiarity with different volunteer recruiting methods is a plus.-Candidate will act as a role model in professional conduct and appearance.-Candidate will have great communication, writing, public speaking and interpersonal skills, and must enjoy interacting with a diverse population.-Candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Docusign, and Publisher.
