Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Positioning and Thought Leadership, the Senior Director, Thought Leadership & Executive Communications develops and drives the BMS global thought leadership strategy to build corporate reputation and advance the BMS story with key stakeholders. This individual serves as a strategic business partner to the BMS leadership team, developing communications programs and identifying opportunities to activate and elevate their voices to tell the BMS story.

Key Responsibilities
Develop robust and differentiated global thought leadership strategy that appropriately engages the BMS leadership team in telling the company story.
Own the development and evolution of the corporate narrative to align with BMS priorities, goals, and milestones.
Continually seek out, vet and present opportunities for leadership team members to tell the BMS story via speaking engagements, internal and external events, social media, media opportunities and others.
Lead the Center of Excellence focused on thought leadership and executive communications, inclusive of: Serving as a strategic business partner to the BMS leadership team: Commercial (medical and international), GPS, R&ED, Enabling Functions.
Supporting the leadership team in developing and executing communications programs specific to their area of the business.
Overseeing the leadership team's role in internal and external events and opportunities such as enterprise town halls, speaking opportunities, media interviews, social media engagement, and others.
Providing counsel and coaching to leadership team in support of opportunities identified as part of thought leadership strategy.
Ensuring alignment of leadership team's messaging and engagement.
Developing suite of materials and content to support overarching corporate narrative.
Providing thought leadership framework and resources/tools for execution across functions, markets and leaders.

Work collaboratively with cross-functional Corporate Affairs colleagues, including Media, Story Studio (owners of BMS corporate digital channels), Commercial, HR, IT, Policy and Government Affairs and others, to ensure cohesive and comprehensive communications approach.
Manage the Thought Leadership and Executive Communications team, including external agency and vendors, in execution of global thought leadership strategy.
Oversee analytics and reporting to ensure strong ROI on leadership engagement activities.

Qualifications & Experience
12+ years of corporate communications experience in pharmaceutical or similar highly regulated industry.
Proven track record of creating and implementing signature thought leadership strategy and translating strategic thinking into action plans, outcomes and success.
Organized, creative self-starter focused on robust strategic and creative thinking and approach.
Strong executive presence and experience managing high-exposure opportunities.
Strong business acumen, with a demonstrated ability to understand and translate business strategy.
Proven leadership skills with ability to inspire trust and confidence, including ability to influence directly and indirectly.
Excellent writing and research skills, with knowledge of AP style and a keen attention to detail.
Proven experience counseling and coaching senior-level executives.
Superior written, verbal, facilitation and interpersonal communications skills.
Exceptional problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
Excels in fast-paced, challenging and highly-matrixed environment.
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English or related field.
