The Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture & Technology Strategy is a key leader in Brother International Corporation's (BIC) executive and technology teams. The priority of this new role is to define, execute and measure the technology strategy and enterprise architecture performance supporting BIC's Americas region, cooperating with and contributing to a global Enterprise Architecture community of practice. This role also plays a key role in evaluating new solutions as they are proposed/introduced to the environment, assessing the existing portfolio of applications and technologies as part of a continuous cycle of evaluation and rationalization. This role requires deep collaboration with various leaders and senior individuals across the company to build consensus and an in-depth understanding of key business processes and the applications and technologies that support them. This requires the ability to seamlessly blend engagement skills, business understanding, critical thinking, technical mastery, and architectural knowledge to drive to define an IT roadmap that will scale and mature capabilities. To be successful in this role one must be a dynamic and resilient technology leader who is comfortable dealing with uncertainty and complexity, engages partners, and promotes trust and confidence with the executive teams and business leadership. Technology Architecture Develop, maintain, and communicate processes and standard practices related to the design, development, and implementation of application solutions and patterns Provide leadership in the logical and physical design of application systems, and ensure design is consistent and well integrated with existing conceptual, logical, and physical application architectures Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical application architecture, in the research and development, planning, deployment, and training of application technologies, and the retirement of obsolete applications Research and evaluate software technology, products, solutions and make recommendations on technology/production introduction, phase out and retirement Analyze and estimate feasibility, costs, time, and resources needed to develop, and implement application systems for several large projects Assist in application portfolio management, standards development, maintenance and governance Build the architecture roadmap with the business strategy in mind to ensure a scalable and optimized application technology portfolio Facilitate and enable the integration of applications and business processes using common methods in managing several large projects Strategy and Business Acumen Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for overall enterprise architecture to facilitate strategic and long-range planning for a set of broad business objectives Define and implement architectural principles, methodologies, and benchmarks Research, analyze, design, and provide proposal and delivery of appropriate application technologies and solutions for the business and IT Proactively communicate and collaborate across multiple business areas as a visionary to assist and provide direction for future projects Assist in solving complex technical problems Provide first-level review of vulnerability assessments Conduct risk and gap analysis Executive Leadership Develop the EA team including recruiting, training, establishing culture and setting priorities for practioners Foster and encourage solution reuse within Business Units and at the Enterprise level Help establish a global EA Council and overall EA Community of Practice, leveraging and aligning global and regional priorities and opportunities Develop and maintain the high-level design plan for the overall logical and technical IT architecture Develop practical business solutions, promote consensus, and communicate and execute those solutions Provide direction, guidance and definition for enterprise architectures to effectively support the corporate business strategy and develop test methodologies and criteria Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field Master's Degree (Preferred) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field 15+ Years of Experience Progressively responsible experience managing all aspects of system, application development, network and site operations and design Experience with cloud computing and data center technologies and cloud computing service models such as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Experience with running a front line 24x7 operations team and developing the staff, tools, SOPs, and processes required for a high-volume site 10+ Years of Experience Implementing One or More Standardized EA Frameworks: The Zachman Framework for Enterprise Architecture The Open Group Architectural Framework (TOGAF) Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF) Control Objectives for IT CObIT 5.0 Software/Technical Skills Experience with enterprise systems experience (SAP, Salesforce, Oracle, Workday, JDA, Others) Experience with advanced engineering and DevSecOps processes and strategies Experience with Enterprise Architectures tools and deployment strategies Experience with Hyperscalers in general and Azure in specific Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Ability to build and maintain vendor and service provider relationships and to negotiate service contracts with them Ability to interface with several internal departments including Internal Controls, Legal, Finance, Order Management, Supply Chain, Operations, and various sales divisions Strong technical, diagnostic, and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills.
