Summary
As a Director, you will be responsible for assisting and
implementing the sales and marketing strategy of Clearway Energy
Group's utility-scale development pipeline, including sourcing,
structuring and negotiating long term power offtake contracts
(Virtual Power Purchase agreements (VPPAs) across the United
States.
Location: Preference near existing office locations for hybrid
engagements in San Francisco (corporate), Scottsdale, AZ, Houston,
TX, or Princeton, NJ.
Principal Responsibilities & Key Results
Originate, structure, and close structured PPAs with corporate
entities:
- Assume management role of existing 3-person team focused on
C&I market segment
- Lead the identification of new origination prospects, propose
outreach strategy for all products and technologies under
development, including key corporate customer messaging.
- Work with Inside Sales, Lead Generation and Account Management
teams in the development of the ideal customer profile while
defining the value proposition by asset C&I offtakes.
- Direct pricing sensitivities based on customer goals/priorities
in alignment with project model underwriting assumptions.
- Actively manage and build relationships with corporate clients
across all regions and market segments.
- Lead negotiation of long-term structured transactions with
commercial offtake to support the financing of development
pipeline.
Oversee the internal support teams though all aspects of the
complex sales process through to closing:
- Evaluate requests for bids and assist with bid preparation,
including pricing & proposal strategies.
- Provide market views on competitiveness for RFPs, leading the
negotiation and structuring of revenue contracts, whether physical
or financial.
- Develop offtake outreach plans and positioning to the market,
including ITC, PTC strategy, market penetration strategy, analysis
of markets, financing, etc.
- Conduct research into customers' businessesand energy
procurement activities and develop initial ideas for CLEARWAY
offerings.
- Maintain customerrecords in Salesforce.com
Contribute to commercial & industrial strategy outlook:
- Provide input to routine power market analysis of the policies
that will impact market structure, and either increase/decrease
supply base, or alter load/demand.
- Participate in energy working groups,
professionalorganizations, trade shows & conferences specific to
corporate engagements
- Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United
States and the national industry trends impacting the future ofwind
and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness
as they relate to customers.
- Anticipate major procurement events and industry news,
including RFPs and corporate sustainability goals, keeping the
broader cross-functional teams informed as well as synthesizing
content and suggesting potential offerings.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven record of accomplishments in structuring, negotiating,
and executing power sale agreements for C&I offtake
- Established network of industry contacts with corporate
entities & trade associations.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with a high
level of attention to detail
- Highly motivated self-starter, friendly personality, and good
team player.
- Strong aptitude for analytical and financial modeling with
demonstrated attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the energy industry including regulated and
de-regulated electricity markets and project financing structures
and key value drivers.
- Effective organizational skills including the ability to
independently prioritize and manage competing priorities and
deadlines.
- Strong desire to advance the adoption and deployment of
renewable energy solutions across North America.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in renewables, preferably in an
origination or development role, with emphasis on corporate
engagement
- A Bachelor's Degree with strong academic record from a leading
undergraduate program, ideally in finance, accounting, business
administration, economics or engineering
- Strong attention to detail and inclination towards structure,
organization, and process - as well as the ability to examine,
question, and improve on the inputs and recommendations of
others.
- Capacity and willingness to perform job duties under time
pressure from external and internal deadlines.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle
multiple concurrent efforts, track progress and needs of each, and
provide high quality deliverables accurately and on time
- Able to work well with geographically dispersed,
cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis
on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
