Job Description:
Overview:
The candidate will assist with the maintenance, organization and
storage of specimens in the Princeton Bird Collection. The
candidate will also coordinate outreach and education activities
related to birds and will perform lab managerial tasks.
Responsibilities:
Managing taxidermy bird specimens in the Princeton Bird Collection.
Responsibilities include maintaining, organizing and and storing of
taxidermy bird specimens. Coordinating specimen loans with other
institutions, including processing necessary contractual documents
to maintain the integrity and security of the specimens of which
many are rare and valuable. Coordinating bird-related outreach
activities & lab management:
Responsibilities include high-level management of three separate,
multifaceted outreach projects, including monitoring of Princeton
buildings for bird strikes, planning and planting a pollinator
garden and organizing a campus-wide art exhibition called
BirDiversity as well as managing budgets for the projects. Managing
many Stoddard Lab activities, including lab finances, lab safety
trainings, EHS compliance and research protocols. This is a complex
role that will require top organizational skills, EEB-related
research skills, and excellent communication skills. Liaise with
our collaborators in other departments and at other institutions.
Qualifications:
The candidate should have exceptional organizational and
communication skills. They should be eager to learn new tasks and
able to work independently. Attention to detail in laboratory work,
and meticulous record-keeping are paramount. Background in
ornithology, ecology or evolution; Excel and data management
experience; Web design skills. Princeton University is an Equal
