OverviewReporting to the Senior Associate Director, Graduate Alumni Relations, the Associate Director, Graduate Alumni Relations is responsible for managing and implementing Advancements graduate alumni relations efforts. The Associate Director leads and supports a variety of programs, events and initiatives that encourage and foster graduate alumni connections and engagement with each other and the University. This position works across Alumni Engagement and with the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni (APGA) and the Graduate School to align, coordinate and support graduate alumni priorities and activities.Princeton UniversityAdvancementworks to inform, inspire, and involve Princetons global community of alumni, parents, and friends in ways that enable the University to fulfill its mission of advancing learning through scholarship, research, and teaching to serve humanity.ResponsibilitiesVolunteer Engagement

  • Serve as a main point of contact for engaging graduate alumni and promoting their participation in all facets of the Universitys alumni relations activities.
  • Manage and implement initiatives to recruit, train, and recognize graduate alumni volunteers.
  • Serve as a staff liaison to Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni (APGA) officers, advising and supporting organizational communications and operations including the planning and execution of three annual board meetings.
  • Partner with Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni (APGA) Board members and committees to increase graduate alumni engagement through priority initiatives and programs.
  • Lead Reunions planning, execution, and evaluation in collaboration with APGA Reunions Chair and the Graduate Alumni Relations Coordinator.
  • Identify and foster graduate alumni engagement opportunities and synergies across Advancement and with campus partners.Graduate Student Engagement and Connection with Graduate Students
    • Plan and execute signature annual events that engage graduate students including Orientation, APGA Reunions and the Commencement reception.
    • Collaborate with the Graduate School and Senior Associate Director of Graduate Alumni Relations to integrate alumni into key initiatives of the Graduate School.
    • Work with campus partners to foster connections with and between graduate alumni and graduate students.Graduate Alumni Communications
      • Manage communications efforts and outreach to graduate alumni, promoting events and highlighting opportunities to get involved in the life of the University and global alumni community.
      • Promote language and narratives that foster graduate alumni participation and inclusion.
      • Partner with Advancement Communications to advise and support priority APGA initiatives.Regional and Affinity Group Engagement
        • Enhance graduate alumni engagement and programming within regional associations and affinity groups, in collaboration with colleagues in Regional Affairs and Affinity Groups.
        • Engage with regionally based graduate alumni volunteers to increase graduate alumni involvement and participation in leadership, programs and events.
        • Promote graduate alumni attendance at regional University events.Additional Responsibilities
          • Assist in planning and executing University events and programs, including Alumni Day, Presidential events, Dean events, and conferences.
          • Track and analyze metrics related to graduate alumni engagement to determine trends, identify opportunities, and inform short and long-term planning.
          • Evaluate the effectiveness of current alumni outreach and programs to identify necessary improvements.
          • Serve on various Advancement working groups and committees to ensure graduate alumni interests and perspectives are incorporated.
          • Manage program budgets and assist with expense processing and tracking as needed.
          • Attend and support all-hands Alumni Engagement events, including Alumni Day, Reunions, Homecoming, three yearly Alumni Council Executive Committee meetings, special on-campus events/conferences, and volunteer leadership assemblies.QualificationsEssential Qualifications
            • Bachelors degree
            • 7+ years of professional experience
            • Excellent written and oral communication skills
            • Experience with project management and volunteer management
            • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse individuals in a team-oriented environment
            • Strong skills in organization, setting goals and priorities, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and problem-solving
            • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to work with alumni volunteers and colleagues throughout the Princeton campus
            • Good judgment and discretion at all times and the ability to keep confidential all data related to Princeton and its alumni
            • Strong technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite as well as database management system
            • A willingness to travel and the ability to work nights and weekends to participate in committee meetings and other alumni events, programs, and activitiesPreferred Qualifications
              • Experience in higher education and/or not-for-profit organizations, alumni relations and/or volunteer management
