OverviewThe mission of the John H. Pace Jr. '39 Center for Civic
Engagement is to make service and civic engagement a central part
of the Princeton University student experience. Pace Center staff
help undergraduate and graduate students learn how to respond to
the needs of the world in responsible ways. The breadth of Pace
Center programming supports learning about community, sustained
volunteering, advocacy and activism, as well as summer internships
and post-graduate fellowships.The Pace Center seeks a dynamic,
versatile, and experienced communications professional to serve as
the center's Communications Manager. Reporting to the Senior
Associate Director, the Communications Manager will be responsible
for highlighting the mission-driven work of the Pace Center for a
wide audience of students, campus and community partners, alumni,
and others. Specific projects might include (but are not limited
to): generating and managing content for social media outlets
(Facebook and Instagram), writing stories amplifying student
voices, writing content elevating the work of community partners,
creating and manging newsletters, website management, and producing
marketing materials such as an annual review.The Communications
Manager will work collaboratively with the Pace Center's internal
program teams to identify strategic priorities. A goal of the
Communication Manager's work is to promote and increase student
involvement in, and learning from, service at Princeton. The
Communications Manager will invite diverse perspectives and express
a commitment to helping Princeton University students make the
world more equitable.ResponsibilitiesProduce written content for
internal and external audiences: (50%)
- Write and publicize stories/content for print, digital, and
multimedia platforms.
- Promote Pace Center initiatives and events, execute successful
marketing efforts, and apply basic design principles within
commonly used web publishing environments.
- Design and send digital event announcements in Mailchimp,
Constant Contact, My PrincetonU or other or other digital marketing
platform(s).
- Oversee and update the Pace Center's website. Conduct periodic
audits to ensure content is accessible, current, accurate, and
clear.
- Manage The Pace Center's social media presence with the goal of
growing audience engagement.
- Design, edit, and produce print publications and brochures.
Participate as a member of the Universitys Campus Communications
Network (CCN).With the Senior Associate Director, develop and
implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the Pace Center's
communications:(50%)
- Collaborate on a strategic plan for the Pace Center's
communications that aligns with the Pace Center's strategic plan
and stated values, the Office of Campus Life's strategic plan, and
Princeton University's strategic priorities.
- Support and empower the the Pace Center's program teams to meet
their communications needs.
- Oversee (for clarity and consistency) the work of students
working on communications.
- Develop, publish, and promote a calendar for the 'year of
service-focused events' including deadlines and other important
activities/dates.
- Pilot a newsletter using student input and feedback on content,
regularity, and platform.
- Act as the Pace Center's liaison to Media Relations and the
Office of Communications.QualificationsEssential Minimum
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and 3+ years of experience in communications
or related field.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Experience in developing and implementing communications
strategies effectively. Strong ability to prioritize
responsibilities, multi-task, as well as meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and also as part of a team.
Ability to constructively edit others work.
- Demonstrated commitment to champion diverse and marginalized
individuals and communities.
- Strong interest in working in a student-focused
environment.
- Willingness to work with innovative technologies to reach
student populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft desktop applications (PowerPoint,
Word, Excel), web publishing (ie Drupal), Google Docs, Canva, and
social media platforms.Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working directly with college students and/or in a
University setting.
- An awareness/understanding of service and civic
engagement.
- Familiarity/comfort with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and
other graphic design programs.
- Familiarity with digital marketing platform such as Mailchimp,
Constant Contact, or My PrincetonU.All applicants are required to
