The Medical Information Specialist is a contingent position to support the Medical Information & Analytics (MI&A) team. This person assists in researching, editing and/or writing standard medical response letters. This person may also assist with review of medical content for accuracy.

PURPOSE
Analyzes and summarizes available data and creates / authors responses to unsolicited inquiries from healthcare professionals, institutions, and/or payors requesting medical information about products, Communicates with HCPs in response to unsolicited inquiries, and Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent, accurate communication of medical and drug information

RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to a Manager or Director level employee in Medical Information and works with stakeholders throughout the CMR and Commercial organizations in Client. Key relationships include Medical & Scientific Affairs, Field Medical Affairs, Product Safety, Customer Care, Sales, and Marketing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• 
  
• Provides verbal, written, and on-demand video responses to unsolicited medical and technical inquiries about products from HCPs, institutions, and/or payors
  
• Creates and/or revises standard and custom medical information responses for use in responding to existing and anticipated medical and technical inquiries from HCPs
  
• Assists field medical colleagues who receive unsolicited inquiries and request medical information support
  
• Revises and/or adds to content in comprehensive evidence-based medical information (e.g., clinical overviews, formulary dossiers, online evidence repository)
  
• Ensures compliance with FDA requirements as they affect Medical Communications; responses must be accurate, up-to-date, balanced, and scientific.
  
• As needed, provides review for Promotional Review Board pieces containing relevant medical content.
  
• Provides related medical support, which may include but is not limited to: Creating/revising Customer Care Center scripts, internal product training, staffing medical booths at meetings/conventions, global alignment of medical information standards and best practices.
  
  
  QUALIFICATIONS
  
  
  • 
    
  • BS within scientific or medical discipline with a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience or PharmD / MD / DO with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience (e.g. academic, clinical or industry experience); post-doctoral fellowship may be substituted for professional experience, as appropriate
    
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated editorial skills
    
  • Literature search and assessment skills
    
  • Prior experience in endocrinology or hemostasis therapy areas preferred
    
  • Strong presentation skills (knowledge of PowerPoint required)
    
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    
    
    SCREENING PROCESS:
    Medical writing sample required with resume submittal prior to interviewing with the hiring manager.

    • Candidate should be the only author
      
    • A medical writing summary (-500 words) of a phase 1, 2 or 3 study (phase 3 preferred)
      
    • Any abstract or journal article publication from previous work experience
      
    • Medical/clinical brochure/content created for HCPs can be about a drug or disease state
      
    • Formulary resource tool created to evaluate a drug or class of drugs
      
      
      In addition, Interview process will incorporate a 30-minute presentation during interview.
      
      MUST HAVES:
      1. Medical writing experience or medical information experience
      2. Clinical pharmacy experience
      3. Customer or patient facing experience (does NOT want candidates with call center experience, they want more retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy or patient face to face)
      4. Verbal communication is a strong skillset they need.
      5. Someone with Team spirit, proactive in networking.
      6. Attention to detail (does not want to see any CV with errors)
