Are you thinking about improving your career development and your professional growth? We invite you to join one of the most successful international logistics organizations here at Kuehne+Nagel. Our Piscataway branch is looking for a new Human Resources Manager to join their Human Resources team.

Your Role

You will be the arm of the Business Partner for this facility, managing all local HR activities to support exempt and non-exempt employees. Also, you will implement human resources/business strategies and programs and provides counseling and guidance to support important programs and daily operational concerns. You will establish work priorities to maximize effectiveness of the HR department. The Local HR Manager has general responsibility for managing the following-Employee Relations.

Your Responsibilities

  • Spend 25% of time on the floor to be visible and interactive to know what is going on and to "check the pulse" of the workplace
  • Employee relations counseling
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of employee relations problems - Business Relations
  • Review and recommend improvements to practices on HR matters
  • Work directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on HR matters
  • Provide leadership and consulting support to management to achieve operations goals
  • Work with managers to identify staffing needs and ensure staffing to meet volume projections
  • Develop, facilitate, and implement staffing strategies and plan to ensure the right people are in the right positions with the necessary skills to do the job
  • Obtain and retain an empowered, motivated workforce
  • Manage temporary workforce vendor regarding quality and ensure terms of contract are met
  • Track staffing levels/deployment, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, compensation, promotions, etc.
  • Use the Kronos system to obtain, store, and analyze important information Payroll and Benefits Administration
  • Manage activities relating to the administration of payroll and employee benefit programs.
  • Training and Career Development.
  • Supervisory Skills training and different compliance training
  • One-on-one mentoring with Supervisors to improve skills

    Your Skills and Experiences

    • Bachelor's degree in business discipline, logistics, or human resources
    • Bilingual Spanish preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in HR
    • HR Certification - (SHRM CP preferred)
    • Knowledge of current employment laws regarding recruiting, workers compensation, affirmative action/equal employment opportunity, wage and hour regulation, benefits
    • Team facilitation and development, and grievance handling
    • Experience working in a fiduciary capacity with responsibility for maintaining the confidential nature of relationships with managers and employees
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications
