others! We are looking for a full-time Payroll Specialist I for our
Accounting team.*This is a* remote *role that may require travel to
our main office in Queens, NY and/or the FreedomCare hub closest to
you.***Position Overview:**The Payroll Specialist is a skilled,
organized, and detail-oriented individual contributor within the
Accounting Department at FreedomCare. Working with timekeeping
systems such as Verint and Purely, the Payroll Specialist will
process biweekly payroll for over 500 employees across multiple
states and entities. Biweekly payroll includes a mixture of
exempt/salaried, non-exempt/hourly, and contractor/1099 payments
using tools like Microsoft Excel and Empeon, our payroll system.
Payroll must be processed accurately and promptly.
**Responsibilities:*** Loading payroll data into Empeon, from
multiple timekeeping systems for hourly and salaried employees*
Customer service-oriented approach to payroll questions resulting
in rapid and accurate resolutions in ticketing system* Assists with
multi state registrations, - state withholding, unemployment, PFL,
and local taxes.* Review and audit time and attendance records and
interact with approving managers to ensure that necessary data is
recorded prior to payroll processing.* Assist with year-end
processes such as W-2's , adjustments and 1095s* Collaborate
closely with several departments and teams - HR, PeopleOps and
Workforce Operations WFM* Effectively manage competing priorities
that often require tight turnaround* Audits and reconciliations of:
401k, dependent care, flex spending, and imports in a timely
manner* Perform other tasks and special projects as directed to
assist in development of departmental goals.* Ability to handle
confidential information with discretion* Strong communication
skills both written and verbal* Ability to work independently and
as part of a team**Ideal Candidates Will Possess:*** At least 1
year of prior payroll operations experience in a company with
multiple entities, multiple states, and at least 75 people on
payroll* Proficiency with Empeon or similar payroll systems; strong
Microsoft Excel skills required.* Experience with timekeeping data
and integrations (Verint, Purely, or similar platforms).* In-depth
understanding of payroll compliance, taxes, and employment law.*
Experience working with urgency and tight deadlines* Adept at
getting any information you need from payroll systems and
accounting systems, sometimes further slicing-and-dicing the
results in Excel for the needed info* Strong analytical and
organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail.* Quickly
understood when discussing results/technical topics with
non-accountant humans; you communicate thoughtfully, clearly and
succinctly* A team-player, meaning you enjoy interacting with
colleagues in person and virtually, sharing your knowledge and
learning from others, and collaborating respectfully with team

our total compensation package and is determined within a range.
This provides our employees with the opportunity to professionally
grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is
between $20.00 and $28.00 an hour at the commencement of your first
year of employment. Compensation decisions are dependent upon a
variety of factors which may include, but are not limited to: skill
set, years of relevant experience, education, location, and
