Cloud Engineering and Operations Department, youll be part of the
infrastructure team responsible for enabling the deployment and
ongoing operational excellence of Medidatas state-of-the-art
production data centers. Our infrastructure is growing, and we
typically handle multiple design, procurement, ordering, and
deployment projects simultaneously. You will be an integral part of
these projects and help our company continue its successful global
expansion. The Staff Lead Network Engineer is responsible for all
functions relating to the operations and support of our hosting
network technology infrastructure. This engineer must be able to
work in a highly dynamic environment, either individually or as
part of a team. It is required to perform various levels of
projects, support initiatives and help to prioritize the workloads
while following our Agile project management methodology. This
position is responsible for supporting all network-based activities
as part of the Medidata Clinical Cloud Platform. This includes
planning and installation of new hardware, monitoring
LAN/WAN/Internet circuits uptime and bandwidth while ensuring high
network availability, resolving complex client related problems,
and designing and implementing all VPN/WAN links within Medidata
and with external clients. Responsibilities: Responsible for
following the vision and strategy for Medidatas hosting network
operations Responsible for operating Medidatas customer facing data
communications systems Responsible for all functions relating to
the design, planning, implementation, configuration and operation
of local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms
and protocols (including IP) of our hosting network infrastructure
Ensure the entire network is properly monitored while overseeing
alerts regarding network outages are addressed in a timely manner
and meet mandated SLAsMonitor network links for performance within
set thresholds Supports, troubleshoots and repairs network related
issues Maintain a high level of functionality and availability of
all VPN links, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and WAN
links Determines the potential causes of the problem and devise
test methodologies for validation Coordinates procurement,
implementations, and troubleshooting efforts with vendors
Responsible for leading all project implementations requiring
network resources Conducts project planning, cost analysis and
vendor comparisons Identify network configuration and/or
performance irregularities while developing procedures to respond
to these irregularities in a timely manner Create/Maintain network
support documentation while constantly improving existing processes
and procedures Provides training and assists with proposal writing
Your Competencies: Experience in designing scalable cloud and data
center using Private/public cloud technology and managing
enterprise-class routers, switches, firewalls and F5 LTM/GTM
In-depth knowledge of network security protocols, including
firewalls, VXLAN, L2VPN, L3VPN, IDS/IPS, and DDoS mitigation
techniques High proficiency with routing protocols (RIP, OSPF,
EIGRP, BGP), VPN and various firewall technologies and vendors
Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are
highly desirable. Expert understanding of external L2 / L3 fabric
connectivity and experience in L2 / L3 switching Architecture
design Solid understanding of network virtualization Expertise in
containerized networking, CNI plugins i.e. Calico,Cilium Expertise
in defining network policy, external connectivity to Kubernetes
cluster Excellent knowledge of (DDI) DNS and DHCP, IP address
management (IPAM) Hands on and troubleshooting experience of
Spine-Leaf architecture CISCO Nexus- N9K or equivalent Experience
with ingress/egress and service mesh (linkerD or istio)
implementation and management Work closely with engineers, QA,
project managers throughout the software lifecycle in optimally
delivering outstanding, large scale systems Provide 24 x 7
production support on a rotating basis Additional Skills: Knowledge
of SD-WAN solution deployment Experience with L4-L7- load
balancing, firewalls, etc. will be an additional advantage Expert
experience with configuring and deploying enterprise-class networks
including the following products: Cisco Nexus/Catalyst Product
Lines Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and
interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and
stakeholders Experience in conducting Network Assessments including
the documentation and presentation of the findings Your Education &
Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information
Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 7 years
of total experience with at least 3 years hands-on experience in
network engineering, preferably with container orchestration
platforms like Kubernetes CCNP certification or equivalent required
CCIE certification preferred At least 2 years of Programming skills
in any one of these Python, Ansible, Go preferred Experience
supporting a 24x7 Operational environment, requiring shift support
As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of
factors including function, level, candidate expertise and
experience, and geographic location. The salary range for positions
that will be physically based in New Jersey is $114,750-$153,000
per year The salary range for positions that will be physically
based in Texas is $101,250-$135,000 per year Base pay is one part
of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and
recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are
eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan
documents, and many of Medidatas non-sales positions are eligible
