At US Foods, a leader in foodservice distribution, we're seeking a skilled Lead Diesel Fleet Mechanic to oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of our fleet of delivery vehicles. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of food products to our large network of customers. As part of our logistics team, you will lead a group of mechanics, manage the repair schedules, and ensure compliance with safety standards. This position offers a dynamic work environment where technical expertise and leadership skills are essential for success. Lead, train and mentor a team of diesel mechanics. Plan, schedule, and oversee the maintenance and repairs of diesel engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components. Ensure adherence to safety policies and compliance with government regulations. Manage inventory of parts and supplies, place orders as necessary, ensuring cost-effectiveness. Conduct regular vehicle inspections and diagnostics to prevent disruptions in logistics operations. Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and vehicle statuses. Collaborate with logistics and distribution managers to optimize fleet usage and increase efficiency. Expertise in diesel engine mechanics, including diagnostics and repairs. Strong leadership and team-management skills. Proficiency with maintenance management software. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Communication and coordination skills. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k ASE Diesel Certification highly preferred. Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one within a certain time frame.
