Overview:The Emergency Services Intake Assistant works with a dedicated passion to ensure effective operations and customer service in meeting the increased need for emergency feeding services related to COVID-19.Duties include but are not limited to: client management, reporting and statistics, stocking and inventory control, and volunteer coordination.Responsibilities:Client Management

• Complete initial food pantry intake form with clients.
• Provide clients with pantry tracking/appointment card with a monthly date to receive service.
• Link clients to other services provided by corps.
• Serve clients with respect and dignity.Reporting and Statistics
  • Keep all Food Pantry reports and related documents in an organized filing system.
  • Complete TSA and government-required tracking sheets with client's information.
  • Keep an accurate count of services rendered and statistic reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly reports for submission to headquarters and local food bank.Stocking and Inventory Control
    • Stock and inventory control
    • Maintain and enter Food Pantry inventory.
    • Stock shelves as needed.
    • Rotate stock and remove outdated and damaged, foods
    • In consultation with supervisor, assist in establishing re-order points for various food items that are regularly needed.
    • Notify the Food Pantry Supervisor of food shortages and make recommendations to remedy problems.
    • Learn to anticipate special food needs in advance of the general need, when possible.
    • Pre-package pantry bags/boxes with available food items for distribution.
    • Work alongside Emergency Feeding Program Assistant.Volunteer Coordination
      • May coordinate volunteers to help with packing food and stock shelves.
      • Perform related duties as assigned.Qualifications:
        • High school diploma or equivalent.
        • NJ Driver's License with a clean driving record.
        • Must be able to regularly lift/load 40- 60lbs.
        • Must demonstrate a true passion for supporting the Food Pantry.
        • Must have good verbal communication skills. (Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred)
        • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) a plus.
        • Good organization skills and timely follow up skills to ensure that any concerns are reported timely, clearly, and addressed in an appropriate time frame for overall cleanliness and safety.
        • Must have an understanding of and an appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
