versatile highly experienced data management expert in Data
Acquisition capability demonstrating excellence for setup and
management of Electronic Data Capture and eSource data collection
systems. This position combines operational excellence with
strategic insight and strong leadership. This position is
responsible for driving strategy, planning and execution of trial
level activities for one or more Therapeutic Area or Value Stream
and/or drives cross-TA innovation, improvements and efficiencies by
leading Data Acquisition capability Center of Excellence teams.
This position is an excellent people leader.This position may take
additional role responsibilities as a business owner for process
and/or systems.This position will have direct reports and fulfil
the role of a functional manager, where he/she is responsible for
the recruitment, onboarding, performance management and development
of people within their reporting line.This position collaborates
closely within data management (e.g. DML, GDM, CDM, Process &
Sourcing) to deliver on the portfolio and shape within the data
acquisition capability.Interface with Data Acquisition & Coding
head and peer Data Acquisition Leaders to provide regular status
updates, identify and manage risks and issues, and ensures the
appropriate use of escalation pathways.This position develops
strong and productive working relationships with key stakeholders
throughout the organization; Clinical teams, Global Development
(e.g. PDO, IDAR, eBIS, GCO, ...), external partners (e.g. CROs,
Functional Service Providers, external data vendors, technology
providers, ...) and/or industry groups (e.g. Phuse, Transcelerate,
...).This position can think strategically and can effectively
express ideas, concerns to senior management.This position is
expected to make leadership decisions and recommendations that
impact the efficiency, timeliness and quality of Data Acquisition
deliverables.In collaboration with senior management, this position
influences departmental effectiveness acting as a change agent to
shape, drive and implement the organizations strategic
vision.Expected to participate and influence within industry work
groups.This position demonstrates excellent technical, operational
accountability, project and people management skills along with
strategic insight.Principal Responsibilities* Functional management
role for Data Acquisition responsibilities across one or more
Therapeutic Area / Value Stream and potential Functional management
role for innovation/expert roles.* Participate in Therapeutic Area
or Value Stream portfolio planning discussions understanding
portfolio requirements with guidance and support.* Responsible for
the recruitment, onboarding, performance management and development
of people and future skills and technical knowledge expertise
within their reporting line. This position may also take on
responsibilities of second line management (i.e. leader of
leaders).* Proactively evaluate and manage resource demand and
allocation to meet current and future business needs ensuring
effective utilization of resources and maintenance of functional
planning systems.Oversee and supervise work allocations of internal
and external team members.* Oversee setup of Data Collection
metadata in MDR within area of responsibility. Ensure consistency
and delivery within time, budget & with quality.* Oversee setup &
management of Electronic Data Capture systems within area of
responsibility. Ensure consistency and delivery within time, budget
& with quality.* Oversee setup & management of 3rd party vendor
data within area of responsibility. Ensure consistency and delivery
within time, budget & with quality.* Oversee setup & management of
ePRO, Direct 2 Participant, Direct Data Capture solutions and/or
consumption of eHR data within area of responsibility, with
guidance and support. Ensure consistency and delivery within time,
budget & with quality.* Oversee team activities as appropriate and
provides technical and project specific guidance to team members to
ensure quality and on-time deliverables in compliance with
departmental processes and procedures.* Responsible for
anticipation, early detection, prevention and management of risks
and issues impacting Data Acquisition deliverables within area of
responsibility (study, compound, disease area, therapeutic area)
and/or Data Acquisition Center of Excellence. Effectively manage
issue escalations, adopting appropriate escalation pathways as
needed with guidance and support.* Actively participate in/ Lead
continuous improvement initiatives; defining and implementing
changes required to create an industry-leading data acquisition
capability.* May serve as a business owner for processes/systems of
low to medium complexity and/or significant departmental or
cross-functional impact. The individual is responsible for seeking
input and making strategic decisions regarding the development,
execution, and maintenance of the process/system in collaboration
with the others.* May act as Data Acquisition primary point of
contact for sourcing providers being responsible for establishing a
strategic partnership, ensuring adherence to contract agreements,
following up on capacity management, deliverables and compliance in
close collaboration with DM Process & Sourcing group and
procurement.* High awareness of compliance requirements and
compliant at any time.Ensures compliance of direct reports with
company and department SOP's, policies and regulatory guidance
documents.* Provides strategic direction and/or sponsorship of
initiatives regarding standards development, implementation,
training and data acquisition support across the portfolio with
guidance and support.Principal Relationships* Reports into Data
Acquisition head and is accountable for Therapeutic Area/Value
Stream and/or Technical Capability Area programming activities and
responsibilities.* Contacts in the organization: Clinical trial
team members, including, Global Data Managers, Data Management
Leaders, Clinical Programmer; Standards experts, eBIS system
support staff.* External contacts include but are not limited to,
external partners, CRO management and vendor liaisons, industry
peers and working groups.Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree and 5+
yrs. relevant experience OR Masters/MBA and 4+ yrs.; PhD with
post-doc experience with 3+ yrs. in a leadership function in
clinical data management or statistical/data - management
programming with expert knowledge required in at least one of the
two areas. -* Expert Technical Data Management experience and
in-depth industry standard CDASH knowledge.* Expert technical
Expertise in one or more of the following: eDC systems (Medidata
-), platform of tools), EDC integration tools, and general data
capture platforms. -* Demonstrated experience planning and
coordinating programming strategy and delivery, overseeing team
activities, or equivalent where therapeutic/ disease area and
portfolio knowledge.* Demonstrated project/risk management skills
and experience managing resources and leading teams to successful
outcomes.* Established track record working on cross-functional
teams in a matrix environment and partnering with/managing
stakeholders, customers and vendors.* Demonstrated experience
managing the outsourcing or externalization of clinical programming
activities in the clinical trials setting (e.g. working with CROs,
academic institutions)* Excellent communication, leadership,
influencing and decision-making skills, and proven ability to
foster team productivity and cohesiveness, acting as a change
agent, and adapting to rapidly changing organization and business
environments.* Demonstrated people management skills and experience
in staff performance management and people development.Johnson &
