As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Wesley Enhanced Living, you will ensure the nursing team is partnering with other departments to make sure we are meeting the needs of our geriatric residents. You will perform various duties to provide quality nursing care to residents to maintain or attain the highest practical level of functioning and to coordinate total nursing care for residents. By getting to know each resident as an individual with unique needs and interests you will be able to help create an environment that promotes resident rights, dignity, freedom of choice, and individuality. You will also be responsible for implementing specific procedures and programs and department goals in partnership with the Director of Nursing and the Nurse Manager (RN). This will include determining work procedures and expediting work flow, insuring compliance with all operating policies and procedures and Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations and Federal Health Care Administration regulations, and providing daily reports and other periodic reports. You will supervise and communicate with Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and other personnel and may need to step in to help perform all the duties of a certified nursing assistant when necessary. You will have accountability for controlled substances and the inventory of medications. When emergencies arise, you will assess the condition of our resident and determine what medical attention is required. By making your rounds, you will be able to confer with residents and their family to ensure they are aware of all of the services available to them, make referrals to other departments when appropriate, encourage participation in our activities programs and provide support to and from these activities. You will partner with other nursing leaders to ensure operational excellence in the nursing department.
