    Job Description

We're expanding our UX Team by creating a new role and adding a Sr. UX Designer. You'll work with one other UX Designer, a stable of Product Managers and Developers, the VP of Product Experience & Creative and report to our Art Director. You'll sit adjacent to a larger Creative team made up of writers, designers, and project managers that make creative deliverables that our customers love to use.

We support half a dozen B2B applications with both desktop and mobile applications. The majority of these applications are built on React, so this role shifts back and forth from Product Design to UX Design on a given day. At the heart of the role is an expectation to help us elevate each of those applications in usability, usefulness, and design.

    How We Get Work Done

Each application that we sell has a product manager responsible for the commercial viability of that product. They're driven by customer needs, the competitive landscape, and market opportunities. We use user experience in 2 ways: (1) to help them shape and bridge those visions for the Development team, and (2) to make sure that our product design engages users in the ways that we envision. The Sr. UX Designer will float from application to application (PM to PM) to make sure that we're crafting the simplest and most compelling product experiences.

Making great products is essential to our business and we push for excellent work. But we push just as hard to create a healthy, positive, and balanced work environment. You have a life outside of work (friends, family, hobbies, goals) and we get that we're here to support that.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Designing usable, accessible, and engaging web application interfaces based on research and best practices
    • Guiding our mobile app interface as well
    • Rapid creation of working prototypes or mockups for demonstration purposes
    • Participating in driving strategic direction from a PX/UX perspective
    • Consulting and ideating with our Product Managers
    • Coaching and cross-training our UX Designer(s)
    • Work directly with Engineers to understand constraints and explain functionality
    • Bringing the design and product experience visions of our Art Director and Product executive team to life
    • Presenting design concepts to senior leadership
    • Advocating for great design every day

      Required Skills & Experience
      • 6+ years working in a UX capacity for a software company
      • A visual design education or substantial UI design experience
      • Mastery of Sketch, Photoshop, and other UI Design tools
      • Mastery of prototyping solutions (paper, hand-coded HTML/JavaScript, Sketch, Axure etc.)
      • Experience with applications built on the React framework
      • Experience working with a variety of product managers
      • A reputation for being smart, thoughtful, and easy to work with
      • An amazing portfolio that demonstrates the use of creative and novel solutions to solve complex problems
      • Knowledge of the financial services and/or insurance industry (optional but nice to have)

        Key Traits
        • You're Curious - Think both in and out of the box and have a nose for great ideas.
        • You Love Design - Obsessively inspired by great design while championing unique ideas and embracing creative risks. Open to immersing yourself in effective, impactful design strategies. Finally, flexibility and the ability to pivot when needed are a must.
        • You Think Strategically - Enjoy making new content, making decisions to best repurpose what already exists, and be open to taking shortcuts if needed.

At the End of the Day

We've made some great products and customer experiences over the past 10 years. We have processes in place that keep us organized and successful. We move fast, we inspire each other, and we love making stuff we're proud of, and now we're ready to grow our team. If this sounds like a place where you'd succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

FMG Suite is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to providing employment opportunities regardless of sex, race, creed, color, gender, religion, marital status, domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military or veteran status, and genetic information.
