Job Description:
The Keller Center is hiring a Graduate Student Educator to
support their makerspace.
Responsibilities include:
Providing mentorship and guidance for undergraduate and graduate
students, faculty, and staff who engage in making in a variety of
academic disciplines. The educator would work with students to help
them plan out their projects by giving them advice on tools,
project milestones, and the potential academic and social impacts
of their project.
A working knowledge and ability to train others using CAD software
is essential.
In order to ensure that our students are getting the highest
quality making education possible, the Graduate Student Educator
will build a robust relationship with the campus maker community
and be a conduit for students to be able to utilize machinery and
tools within other makespaces across campus.
Exhibiting excellent interpersonal skills and fostering a welcoming
and inclusive environment for a diverse group of students and
campus community members. It is important to the Keller Center that
our makerspace be an inclusive area where anyone with interest in
making can learn and work.
The ideal candidate:
Would be able to work a flexible schedule and would be available
from approximately 2:00pm to 9:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and
Thursdays beginning June 6th, and ending August 18th.
Would possess knowledge and experience with 3D printing, large
format printing PCB/CNC mills, and ability to teach and help others
with these technologies and software.
Would have proven interpersonal and organizational skills and a
high degree of professionalism, the ability to think creatively,
work independently and function effectively as part of a team, and
an enthusiasm for STEM education/outreach.
Has a passion for how making intersects with design,
entrepreneurship, and innovation.
