Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the developer is to code and implement new or enhanced features in the enterprise content management system where work in process assets for print and digital content is stored. Responsibilities include working with an external vendor to maintain and update application code as well as partnering with Infrastructure to maintain the environment. The position reports into the lead Application Architect supporting content and workflow modules used by Editorial, Art & Design, Composition and Copyedit teams. The ideal candidate is someone who has been successful building scalable and maintainable software and able to collaborate with a team or work independently. Responsibilities: --- Design, develop and maintain Java-based system components --- Review existing code and recommend patches or design changes to fix bugs or make improvements to application functionality or workflow processes. --- Conduct effective unit tests prior to formal testing cycles. --- Collaborate effectively with the internal application architect, content engineer, internal and external developers, and QA personnel. --- Review cyber security requirements and implement patches and updates for compliance purposes. --- Provide regular status updates to manager ensuring risks are reviewed, action plans are developed to mitigate those risks, and dependencies are identified. --- Partner closely with functional and technical leads to build a system roadmap or breakdown the roadmap into identifiable components, features, and functions. --- Support technical R&D efforts as requested by the lead architect. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: --- -Java 3+ years --- -XML 3+ years (XSLT, XPath, XQuery) --- -SQL 1+ years and familiarity with basic database administration for MySQL and MS SQL --- -Content Management Systems experience (Alfresco or similar) --- -XML database familiarity and willingness to learn (MarkLogic) --- -Workflow engine experience (JBPM, Activiiti) --- -Scripting languages (JavaScript, Groovy, Bash, PowerShell) --- -REST Web Services, Spring Boot --- -Ability to perform sys admin tasks for both Windows and RedHat Linux --- -Excellent written and verbal communication skills --- -Willingness to embrace new technologies --- -Ability to work independently in an Agile SDLC --- -CI/CD, GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, Ant Preferred Qualifications: --- -Angular or similar UI framework --- -XML database administration (MarkLogic or similar)
