Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist to join our
Diagnostic Films business at our Bridgewater, NJ. This is a very
visible, significant role within the Company and the R&D
function. This position will report to Diagnostic Films - Head of
Technology.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited
to, the following:
* Capable of functioning independently
* Provide strong scientific problem-solving skills
* Exhibits a strong desire, working with various teams, to develop
a fundamental understanding of key technical parameters coupled to
a strong ability to articulate key findings. All efforts supported
by data.
* Knowledge of chemical formulation principles
* Knowledge of chemical transformation processes (e.g. radiation
processes (X-Ray, Gamma, UV))
* Ability to plan and implement complex projects
* Monitor personal metrics and objectives ensuring meeting of
goals
* Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety
regulations
* Develop strategies to increase R&D capabilities
* Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking
initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and
safety
* Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through
building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and
utilizing positive communications and influence with others
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the
following:
* A minimum of Ph.D. degree in a relevant field such as Physical
Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry or
equivalent.
* Knowledge of chemical formulation principles
* Knowledge of chemical transformation processes (e.g. radiation
(X-Ray, Gamma, UV))
* Utilize strong organizational skill cross discipline knowledge,
communication, and multitasking
* Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times
* The ability to help the company drive greater value through
understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating
the new and different
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
* Two or more years of experience in a directly relevant
setting
* Knowledge of radiation therapy
* Knowledge of computer programming (e.g. C#, Java, Python)
* Knowledge of FDA medical device regulations
