Benefits Specialist provides supportive services to residents and
families in underserved communities, educating and enrolling them
in public benefits programs, including SNAP, and facilitating
access to food and social services.ScheduleMonday - Friday (Day
Shift)Salary$23.92Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
- Perform outreach at community organizations
- Conduct educational workshops
- Prescreen clients for SNAP and other benefits using approved
software
- Educate clients on eligibility rights and document
submission
- Assist with application completion
- Schedule and coordinate client interviews
- Submit applications via POS and other systems
- Follow up post-interview for benefits receipt
- Other duties as assignedRequired Skills/Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of social service or related experience
- Knowledge of NYC public benefits system, ACCESS HRA, HRA,
DHS
- Bilingual Spanish requiredSkills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication
skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and work independently or in a team
- Flexible with work schedule, including evenings and
weekends
- Ability to travel with necessary supplies

- Experience with Microsoft Office and client databases
preferred
