Johanna Foods is also a leading private label and co-pack juice and yogurt producer, manufacturing products for numerous leading retailers and brands. -What we offer:Competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, life insurance, short term disability insurance, long term disability insurance, vacation, and tuition reimbursement. -Job Summary:The Safety & Loss Prevention Manager is responsible for maintaining a leadership role in development and implementation of a comprehensive Safety Management System that fosters a collaborative safety culture and ensures compliance with Company Safety Policies, OSHA regulations, and other state/local agency requirements. This position supports other critical functional areas to ensure adherence to Company standards, programs, practices and procedures with the goal of maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, visitors, vendors and customers.Responsibilities

  • Ability to interpret OSHA regulatory requirements and apply them appropriately
  • Broad working knowledge of OSHAs federal, state regulations as well as local safety, health and workers compensation laws and regulations
  • Identify hazards and analyze risks associated with new and existing facilities and equipment, and partner with operations management to develop and implement control procedures
  • Develops, introduces, implements, and monitors adherence to Johanna Safety Programs, practices, policies and procedures that cover a wide range of Company and OSHA required activity
  • Act as key interface with groups such as government agencies related to safety
  • Implements corporate directives relative to and including ergonomic observations, hazard assessments, approved practices, data analysis, and metrics analysis
  • Develops, facilitates, coordinates, and monitors safety & compliance training programs
  • Responsible for OSHA reporting and record keeping
  • Audits implementation of programs and ensures strategy for sustainable compliance
  • Able to communicate effectively and establish credibility with employees and management and able to handle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Trains and supports operations management to ensure quality injury and accident investigation techniques are utilized
  • Identifies and analyzes factors that may create injuries, accidents, accident conditions, or implement multiple accident control strategies
  • Develops request and reviews accident statistical reports to focus efforts on injury trends and corrective actions
  • Communicates risk control and safety issues and objectives to Johanna employees
  • Demonstrated proficiency in program development, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement
  • Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement in regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees have an understanding of the safety expectations of the organization
  • Works diligently to prevent exposure to future risks and manages cost associated with workers compensation
  • Collaborates with w/c claims administrator to provide claim settlement input /advice
  • Manage the employee return to work programs, modified duty programs, in coordination with the claims adjuster, claims oversight manager and medical case management
  • Assume other tasks as assignedQualifications
    • Four year degree or equivalent experience required
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and provide excellent customer service
    • Broad working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety, health, and workers compensation laws and regulations
    • Knowledge of industrial best practices and procedures preferred
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule
    • Proficient PC skills required
    • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
    • Public speaking ability to groups of various sizes
    • 5 to 7 years Safety and Loss Prevention management experience
