Role: Sr. Red Hat Linux Automation Engineer
Location: Raritan, NJ (local candidates preferred)
Duration: 1 year (possible extension up to 2 years)

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Red Hat Linux Automation Engineer for a full-time role working on site 3-4 days a week in Raritan, NJ. (rest of the time remote)

Key skills required:
- 5-8 years hands on experience designing, managing & administering Red Hat Linux 6, 7, & 8 platforms in physical and virtual environment
- Automation, image development, deployment and maintaining configs
- Building, deploying, automation for on-prem private cloud and AWS & Azure Public Cloud
- Deep Linux and coding with use of DevOps tools: Chef, Jenkins, GIT, Shell/Perl, Python, SCM
- Image maker team-deploy image
- Strong scripting skills (Shell/Perl/Python)

Certifications: RHEL and other industry certs highly preferred

Job requirements:
Configuring, designing, documenting, and implementing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6, 7 & 8 instances (bare metal and virtualized), Private and Public Clouds taking into account the following:
Kernel parameters
IDs and user groups
Access methods
Boot process
File systems and mount points
Storage
Swap space
Update processes
Gold disk build and standards
Disk type and layout
Disk redundancy and zoning
File systems
Swap space
SAN boot
Security requirements
Required drivers list
Required packages list
Build and test (scripts) / process required in (Bash & Perl)
Requirements for grub2 against legacy grub
NTP configuration and daemons
Required environment relative to Application needs
Infrastructure design

Testing of RHEL 7/8 systems
Build and execute test scripts to support unit testing of the RHEL 7.x /8.x configuration for the physical and virtual environment.
Test the Autobuild deployment using the installation guide.
Execute test scripts for RHEL 7.x /8.x configuration for application deployement in the Autobuild.
Work with respective agent owners to resolve installation errors contained in the Autobuilds,
Work with application owners to resolve RHEL 7.x configuration errors resulting from the Autobuild.

Harmonize Provisioning
" Troubleshoot & harmonize Linux provisioning issues in cloud & On-prem environments
" Update Chef cookbooks
" Troubleshoot Chef-related issues on Linux servers
OS Images
" Quarterly OS image release in the cloud & On-prem
" Update new features, enhancements, and requirements in the OS image Jenkins pipeline
" Troubleshoot OS image Jenkins pipeline issues
" Monthly RHEL OS patch bundle release/test
" Migrate AWS/Azure OS image Jenkins pipeline
Linux support
" Troubleshoot Linux OS issues in the SCM environment
" Automate day-to-day SCM operational tasks via Jenkins pipeline, Shell scripts, etc.
" Troubleshoot Linux build server issues.
