Duties The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Senior Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer with overall supervision and management of either an Aircraft Maintenance Squadron , a Maintenance Squadron , an Equipment Maintenance Squadron or a Component Maintenance Squadron at an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) unit-equipped or associate unitRESPONSIBILITES: 1Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the squadronManages assigned maintenance resources and ensures production meets operational requirements and technical standardsRecommends procedural and technical improvements and modifications2Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include personnel and position management, equal opportunity, security, and safetyAdvises employees regarding policies, procedures and directives of managementMaintains sound positions management practice when determining types and numbers of positions to support the organizational mission3Represents organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizationsEstablishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external customersMeets with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolves significant problems that arise Requirements Conditions of Employment--- U.SCitizenship is required--- Must be a current member of the AF Reserves or willing/qualified to join--- A security clearance may be required--- If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF RegulationsIf receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreementMore information on PCS requirements, may be found at: https://afciviliancareers.com/regulatory/--- Total salary varies depending on location of position--- This posn is subject to provision of the DoD Priority Placement Program--- Must sign a mobility agreement--- Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force ReserveRetired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.--- Position may be subject to random drug testing--- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays--- Shift work and emergency overtime may be required--- Employee must maintain current certifications--- Disclosure of Political Appointments--- Direct Deposit: All federal employees are required to have direct deposit.--- Advance in hire may be authorized if there is demonstrable proof provided on your resume--- Recruitment Incentive may be authorized for this position--- Relocation Incentive may be authorized for this position--- Leave accrual may be authorized upon request Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the special experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management PositionsSPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade or equivalent which includes the planning, directing, organizing, coordinating maintenance activities and funding of aircraft maintenance functions and comprehensive and detailed knowledge of aircraft maintenance functionsThis definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 or above grade/ level or equivalent position in the federal serviceFederal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referralTIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeksKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1Broad knowledge of aircraft maintenance management practices, procedures and organizational and mission requirements; capabilities and limitations2Knowledge of basic operating principles of assigned aircraft systems and components; basic munitions, munitions procedures and quality assurance and other unit operations3Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures4Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors5Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources6Ability to communicate both orally and in writing7Knowledge of maintenance information systems8Knowledge and ability to interpret instructions, specifications, technical orders, publications and operating procedure OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) positionThe incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirementsWork schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA)The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilitiesMay be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments2AFRC command-wide geographic mobility is a condition of employment for all ART officer positions3May act in the absence of higher level supervisor up to and including the Group Commander4This is a key management position in which the incumbent is required to formulate, determine or influence training policies of the unit to which assignedThis is a designated key position in accordance with HQ AFRC/DPCS Attachment 17 to the guideline FPM 930-71; the term "key' as it is used here relates to the ART program that defines the position as critical to the unit's mobilization capability and has no relationship to the term "key" as defined in AFI 36-507PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time workYou must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per weekVOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional;
