DFEC is a small electrical contracting business located in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. We are seeking an electrician who is looking for an organization who promotes team work and a cooperative work environment, as well as someone who will make a contribution to the ongoing success of DFEC. Duties and Responsibilities The Electrician is responsible for overseeing the assigned work and/or service visit to ensure that the service is completed per the work order request. The incumbent delegates tasks to the electrical crew providing them with ongoing electrical and equipment training, instruction, and guidance. This includes: -Connecting wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. -Constructing and fabricating parts, using hand tools and specifications.-Installing ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors. -Repairing or replacing wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. -Planning layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. -Working from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. -The ability to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools. -Following blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment to ensure building and safety codes. -Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correcting the problem. -Placing conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pulling insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. -Using a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including ammeters test lamps. -Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of system. QUALIFICATIONS Must possess an electrical certification or diploma from an accredited school. Must have at least 5-7 years of progressive experience performing a range of electrical duties. Must be able to read an electrical blueprint and have knowledge of the electrical code. General knowledge of basic math calculations and computations. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as with a team. Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation. Must own hand tools. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The incumbent will work in commercial and residential properties of various sizes located in different neighborhoods. Frequent exposure to live electrical wiring, debris, dust, loud machinery, and other material common at construction sites. Will perform job duties in both indoor and outdoor settings, including inclement weather. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Long periods of standing, stooping, and bending. Must be able to lift up to a minimum of 75lbs. Must be able to climb ladders. Schedule: Full-time; Monday-Friday; 7:15am-4pm. Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications; as well as paid time off.
